Mighty High and Ripple Music Join Forces to Auction Rare Test Pressing for Charity

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cosmic Lava proclaims that the latest Mighty High slice of primal rock mayhem is "angry, funny and a powerful jolt of rebellious energy." Downtuned Mag boasts that Legalize Tre Bags is "an addictive, vulgar, raw, filthy son of a bitch. A thirty-minute bad-ass, pure garage-punk 'n' roll fun ride." And Ringmaster spits out "Legalize Tre Bags is a raucous feast of punk, weed, and middle finger attitude -- most of all it's a deeply satisfying slab of rock n roll."

Now, continuing Ripple Music's tradition of auctioning off it's rare test pressings for charity, Mighty High and Ripple have joined forces to auction the only original test pressings of Mighty High's block-buster new album, Legalize Tre Bags, with all proceeds going to benefit Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for Cancer Research.

With cancer being a deeply personal issue for both the band and label, they couldn't be happier to support this cause.

Now, this isn't just any old test pressing auction. What's being auctioned is the incredible rare locked-groove version of the album, with a repeating belch at the end of side one that was deleted from the official release. This is the ONLY version that includes the original version of the album. Due to time and financial constraints, this idea had to be abandoned.

But that's not all! Included with the test pressing is the original cover art and a signed poster featuring the mind-bending art of Braino.

You can find this rarest test pressing auction happening now on eBay Mighty High Test Press Auction

And don't forget the special Mighty High package, still available at the Ripple Music Store! This specially designed set was created to help fans get up to speed with the Mighty High story. The package includes every Mighty High release to date: Legalize Tre Bags black vinyl, the "Drops A Deuce" 7" vinyl, The Mighty High/Stone Axe split 7", the Heavy Ripples double 7" set featuring the Mighty High tune "Hempaphobic", and the bands first album, In Drug City, on CD. All of these are blessed with that wild, Crumb-inspired Braino artwork that Mighty High has become famous for. That's every Mighty High release on vinyl,  and the incredibly rare debut CD, all for one low price!

(Mighty High Deluxe Set)

So, if snotty rebellion played gloriously loud, with a big nod towards the 70's legends of Motorhead, Grand Funk, and AC/DC is your thing, Mighty High may have just released your album of the year! And, this is your chance to own the rarest Mighty High album of all time, the locked-groove test pressing, while helping out a worthy cause!

On March 24th HBO will release the movie 'Phil Spector" starring Al Pacino. Listen to Phil Spector's music the way it was meant to be heard - ON VINYL, IN MONO!!!!

In the early 1960s, Phil Spector and his Wall of Sound changed the face of popular music, elevating teenage rock 'n' roll into epic, widescreen drama whose emotional directness and expansive, densely layered sound instantly broadened the potential of the recording medium. In the process, the "Tycoon of Teen," barely out of his teens himself, became the first record producer to be as famous as the performers that he produced. Spector's assault on the charts began in earnest in 1962, when he launched his soon-to-be-legendary Philles label. Applying his visionary studio techniques to redefine the girl-group genre, he created a string of iconic smashes ("little symphonies for the kids," as Spector once called them) that dominated the period's AM airwaves, and which continue to resonate through popular culture half a century later. Spector's pioneering work with the Crystals, the Ronettes and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans remains the cornerstone of his incredible body of work. Perhaps because he's so widely renowned for his masterful singles, the handful of vintage Spector-produced LPs remain underrated, and original vinyl copies have become rare collectors items. Now, Sundazed Music honors the Spector legacy with these five groundbreaking vinyl landmarks from the vaults of Philles Records!

THE RONETTES

Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes featuring Veronica MONO EDITION LP

Originally released in time for 1964's Christmas season, the Ronettes' one and only Philles LP is considered by many to be the crown jewel of the label's catalogue, representing the ultimate expression of Phil Spector's girl-group ideal.

THE CRYSTALS

Twist Uptown MONO EDITION LP

The Crystals' first LP Twist Uptown, originally released in the summer of 1962, occupies an important position in Phil Spector's remarkable body of work. As the first full album produced by Spector and the first LP to be released on his legendary Philles label, it's a crucial cornerstone in the building of the fabled Wall of Sound. Beyond its historic significance, though, Twist Uptown retains a timeless resonance, thanks to Spector's seminal studio wizardry and the Crystals' sweet-but-streetwise vocal magic.

THE CRYSTALS

He's a Rebel MONO EDITION LP

Although it was assembled quickly in 1963 to take advantage of the chart success of its eponymous title anthem, the Crystals' second album is a near-perfect summation of this seminal girl group's effortless appeal and the surging majesty of Spector's production genius. Between the group's winsome vocals, the massed muscle of Spector's legendary studio band the Wrecking Crew, and the stellar songwriting of such Brill Building pros as Carole King, Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil and Doc Pomus, He's a Rebel is one of the most beloved items in the Philles Records catalogue.

BOB B. SOXX AND THE BLUE JEANS

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah MONO EDITION LP

One of the most talented acts in Phil Spector's stellar recording stable, Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans featured the great Darlene Love, one of Spector's favorite vocal muses; Fanita James, who also sang alongside Love in the ubiquitous studio vocal group the Blossoms; and Bob B. Soxx himself, aka renowned singer Bobby Sheen, a legend in West Coast R&B circles. The trio's uncanny abilities provided Spector with an ideal vehicle to perfect his musical formula, making the trio's 1963 album Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah one of the most enchanting items in the Philles Records catalogue.

Phil Spector and Various Artists

A Christmas Gift For You LP

In 1963, visionary producer Phil Spector, then at the peak of his creativity and cultural influence, created one of the first—and still one of the greatest—rock 'n' roll Christmas albums. Using the artist roster of his Philles label—the Ronettes, the Crystals, Darlene Love and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans—and the legendary studio musicians of the Wrecking Crew, Spector applied his fabled Wall of Sound to a set of Christmas pop standards and holiday-themed originals.

Flea's New EP On 180 Gram Vinyl

Get Flea's brand new limited edition EP now on Because Sound Matters by clicking here.

The record is on 180 gram vinyl, pressed in Europe and mastered by Bernie Grundman.

The EP was recorded in 2007 by Flea and Chris Warren, drum technician and keyboard player for the Chili Peppers. Flea said he had no plans for the album to be anything but to just record it in the back room at his house following a long Chili Peppers tour and as a way for Warren to learn how to be a sound engineer. The title of the EP, according to Flea, comes from a character in the 1847 novel Jane Eyre. Flea said "the beauty of Helen Burns is a quality I look for in all human beings. Burns is always someone who is present with me and whose highest ideals resonate in the deepest experiences of my life".

All songs were produced and written by Flea, except "Helen Burns," which was co-written with Patti Smith.
Track Listing:
1. 333
2. Pedestal Of Infamy
3. A Little Bit Of Sanity
4. Helen Burns
5. 333 Revisited
6. Lovelovelove
