Vinyl Record News & Music Notes

our friends at Sundazed.com are having a special sale, here's just a few of the vinyl specials:

Hundreds of Sundazed Music LPs, CDs, 45s and More at Ridiculously Low Prices

While they last... Seriously... take a look at this!

Blues Magoos - Electric Comic Book LP

Garage/punk/psychedelia pioneers!

The Blues Magoos launched their recording career with the LP Psychedelic Lollipop. The equally impressive Electric Comic Book refines the band's mix of rock ’n’ roll and day-glo psychedelia. That punchy yet playful approach animates such distinctive numbers as “Pipe Dream,” “Rush Hour,” “There’s a Chance We Can Make It” and “Albert Common Is Dead.”

Sundazed’s new vinyl edition also features a replica of the original comic book that was packaged with the album’s original pressings.

This ’60s garage-psych nugget is now available from Sundazed on High Definition Vinyl, sourced from the original Mercury-label stereo masters, with the colorful original cover art meticulously reproduced.

In their '60s heyday, the Blues Magoos were one of the first garage-punk bands to achieve mainstream success, and one of the first to embrace psychedelia. Early in their existence, the Bronx-bred quintet's high-energy live sets made them a popular attraction on the Greenwich Village club scene. Once they began making records, they quickly emerged as one of one of the earliest and most inventive exponents of the psychedelic sound. The band's 1966 debut album Psychedelic Lollipop and its 1967 followup Electric Comic Book, are two of that period's most beloved and enduring albums.

Dick Dale and His Del-Tones - Checkered Flag LP

Though he was renowned as “The King of the Surf Guitar,” Dick Dale detoured onto the drag strip in 1963 and created Checkered Flag, a landmark album of the hot-rod genre. Backed by studio pros like Hal Blaine, Earl Palmer, Plas Johnson and Steve Douglas, Dick laid down tough, reverb-soaked instrumentals like “Night Rider” and “The Wedge,” highlighting his unique technique and deeply varied sonic textures. The album also features vocal numbers, like lead track “The Scavenger,” penned by some of the top pop tunesmiths of the day, including Gary Usher, Gary Paxton and Carol Connors. Whether vocal or instrumental, each and every one of these songs invokes the sound, speed and spirit of the racetrack, with motors roaring and crowds cheering. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!

Sourced from the original Capitol Records stereo masters, this Sundazed Music edition of Checkered Flag is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and includes complete original artwork. What are you waiting for? Hop in your ho-dad machine now and go grab a copy!

Fever Tree - Live 1969 LP

Previously unissued live recording showcasing the final stage appearance by this legendary garage combo’s original lineup!

The never-released 1969 live effort from Fever Tree! Gulf Coast punk phenoms the Bostwick Vines see Cream and Hendrix and bring their tough interpretation of that combination to Hollywood, California. With three unique studio albums to their name, Fever Tree splinters after this live gig in Texas, but not before laying down one final testament to their evermore worth as swooning psychedelic rockers.

Sharpening their chops on the Gulf Coast circuit, followed by a high-profile opening night gig at Hollywood’s legendary Kaleidoscope, Fever Tree developed a keen sense of musical drama and dynamics. This versatility is in sharp display on the concert’s rendition of their underground radio hit “San Francisco Girls (Return of the Native).” For the rest, Live 1969 focuses on groovers, a perfect set-up for the gliding fuzztones of lead guitarist Michael Knust, the sonic organ of Rob Landes, the thick rhythms provided by E.E. “Bud” Wolfe III on bass and John Tuttle on drumsand the dynamic, driving lead vocals of Dennis Keller.

“Don’t Come Crying to Me Girl,” a song originally found on the band’s second album, levitates the band beyond any earthly confines. Elsewhere, the set moves between a soaring cover of Donovan’s “Hey Gyp,” their own power pop “Grand Candy Young Sweet” and a whirlng psych take on Wilson Pickett’s “Ninety-Nine and One Half (Won’t Do).” Playing as if their lives depended on it, Live 1969 captures a band at the height of its powers, forever preserved on this final audio testament.

The Five Americans  - I See the Light -LIMITED EDITION MONO- LP

The versatile Five Americans were so tapped into the heroic pop scene of 1965–66, they were able to pen brilliant original material that could, at times, sound something like the raw garage howl of the Rolling Stones, the jangle of the Byrds, the psychedelic mystery of Jefferson Airplane or the PhD folk-rock of Simon & Garfunkel. Best of all, lead guitarist Mike Rabon, keyboardist John Durrill, rhythm guitarist Norman Ezell, bassist Jim Grant and drummer Jimmy Wright, put their own distinct stamp on a string of smashes that began with the mighty “I See the Light” in early 1966.

Hailing from Oklahoma, this hungry quintet hit the jackpot when they moved en masse to Dallas and hooked up with the red-hot Abnak label, run by John Abnor, Sr. Their debut longplayer, I See the Light, was a perfect snapshot of what made 1966 a watershed year for rock. The song of the same name opens with what may be the most famous held organ note in rock history, then turns to a stomping bass line that would have been the envy of Slade’s Doc Marten army six years later. “Goodbye” is a perfect extension of the Slick–Balin vocal tandem about to catch fire in San Francisco. “I Know They Lie” has that Byrds/Brummels Rickenbacker jangle down pat. “Don’t Blame Me” and “It’s a Crying Shame,” a pair of snarling garage-rock nuggets, go directly for the jugular with results every bit as lethal as anything ever cut in the Lone Star state.

This 180 gram vinyl-only release is impeccably sourced from the original mono master tapes, the first time the album has been re-released in ultra-honest, bone-crunching mono.

Only $8.99!  Buy at Sundazed

Hot Tuna - Hot Tuna LP

1970 debut of rootsy side project by Jefferson Airplane members!

Jefferson Airplane members Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady formed Hot Tuna in 1969 during a hiatus while Grace Slick recovered from throat node surgery. What began as a rootsy side project quickly became a full-fledged band, one that ultimately far out-lived the original group. Based from the start on Kaukonen’s and Casady’s expert musicianship, Hot Tuna sought to explore traditional blues and folk styles apart from the heavy rock sound of the Airplane. Longtime students of folk-blues pioneers like Reverend Gary Davis, Blind Blake and Jelly Roll Morton, the duo mixed traditional songs with their own compositions in a stripped-down, primarily acoustic style. At a time when Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and their peers were adding stack after Marshall stack to their stage gear, this was indeed a radical move.

Recorded live during a week of shows at Berkeley’s New Orleans House, the band’s self-titled 1970 debut is an acoustic affair highlighting the country blues approach of their heroes. It features several of their signature songs, including “Hesitation Blues,” “Uncle Sam Blues” and “Know You Rider.” Listen closely during “Uncle Sam Blues” for the sound of breaking beer glasses. This bit of audio vérité resulted in it being nicknamed “the breaking glass album” by the group’s loyal fanbase.

This landmark recording has been sourced from the original analog RCA masters and includes the complete original artwork. A riveting performance from beginning to end, it was the start of one of the most successful and influential branches in rock music’s ever-evolving family tree.

new releases from our friends at MusicOnVinyl

Randy Newman - Faust

Randy Newman's Faust is a 1993 musical based the work on the classic story of Faust. Newman borrowed elements from the version by Goethe, as well as Milton's Paradise Lost, but updated the story to the modern day and infused it with humorous cynicism. In this retelling, God and the Devil fight for the soul of Henry Faust, a student at the University of Notre Dame.

Vocal duties are co handled by James Taylor, Elton John, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt and Don Henley. Available on vinyl for the first time! 180 gram audiophile vinyl

Miles Davis - Doo-Bop

Miles Davis was on the forefront of many new subgenres of music; he even invented the mix of Jazz and Hip Hop with Doo Bop (1992), a collaboration with producer Easy Mo Bee. Bee was involved in production work for Big Daddy Kane and Notorious B.I.G., which earned him grand stature in Hip Hop circles. Miles chose him for laying down groundworks for entertaining trumpet soloing as only Miles Davis can do. Several tracks on Doo Bop were finished right after the death of Miles Davis. A worthy goodbye to the master of the Jazz trumpet.  180 gram audiophile vinyl

Bonnie Raitt - The Glow

Bonnie Raitt's The Glow (1979) captured her in an important period of her career, taking on popular cover material such as "I Thank You" by Sam & Dave, "Your Good Thing (Is About To End)" by  Lou Rawls and Jackson Browne's "You're Gonna Get What's Coming."

Her tough image is complemented by a polished production by Paul Rothchild, who's famous for putting The Doors, Janis Joplin, Tim Buckley, Love and The Paul Butterfield Band on tape. The Glow is a wonderful Raitt exercise, belonging in the ranks of best Raitt albums.  180 gram audiophile vinyl and Insert!

really enlightening article about the sale of vinyl, yes, vinyl is back, but it is not the all-consuming industry it once was, but the fact that a younger audience is buying vinyl (with Daft Punk selling the best so far this year) and more and more bands are releasing music via the format means that we will have a collector's market for many years to come!

Ask Mr. Music by Jerry Osborne

FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 30, 2013

DEAR JERRY: I am searching for a wonderful tenor saxophone version of "Under a Blanket of Blue."

I heard it on a jazz station and recognized the music, but they never named the artist or the CD. It is all instrumental, with no vocal.

With so little to go on, can you even suggest who it might have been playing?
—Rose Atwater, Terre Haute, Ind.

DEAR ROSE: I can't guarantee it's the track you heard, but any saxoholic would probably love Ben Webster's tenor sax rendition.

You'll find three different takes of "Under a Blanket of Blue" on his double-CD, 38-track, "Music for Loving," but on Amazon.com you can use their 30-second samples to help you choose. Then, for just 99-cents each, you can download any of the individual selections.

DEAR JERRY: Here is an unsolved mystery from my teen years, when we lived in Adelaide, South Australia.

Not long after Del Shannon's iconic hit, "Runaway," another song that I thought was by Shannon became very popular.

This recording sounded like Del, and it even had the same style falsetto ("why, why, why, why," etc.) heard on "Runaway." Only this time, instead of the "whys." it is "bye, bye, bye, bye," etc.

None of my American mates have a clue about this record. Might you?
—Wayne Kimbrook, Panama City, Fla.

DEAR WAYNE: It seems you have not only forgotten the song and the artist, but the amusing fact that his last name is the same as your first.

The Del Shannon-esque singer you describe is Paul Wayne, and there is no doubt you are thinking of his 1962 hit, "Bye Bye Baby, Bye Bye" (Leedon LK-240).

Paul was a big favorite of teens Down Under in the 1960s, and he appeared regularly on their American Bandstand-type shows.

That his success in Australia and New Zealand was never duplicated in our hemisphere was not for lack of talent or good material, rather that none of his records were issued in America.

Could there be a better way to kill sales?

This is not to say we don't have domestic records from the '60s by Paul Wayne. We do. It's just that they are by a different person, an American country singer who used that same name during the same period.

The U.S. Paul Wayne (née, Paul Borst) is best known for the 1966 single, "Everything But Love" (Starday 781).

In this case, Col is short for Colin, and not Col. the abbreviation for Colonel, as he is sometimes shown.

The Australian original (Festival FK-3075), that peaked at No. 3 in the homeland, is simply titled "Bye Bye Baby." In 1992, a Festival reissue (K-11245) came out with a title nearly identical to the U.S. Decca disc, "Bye, Bye Baby Goodbye." The more noticeable difference is that the '92 release credits only Col Joye, with no mention of the Joye Boys.

That makes for three recordings of the same song with each credited differently.

If you're wondering how the original Australian Festival sheet music reads, its title matches perfectly with the U.S. Decca single, and neither of Festival's issues, yet, unlike both 1959 records, its cover credits only Col Joye.

Another Aussie single, one with a similar title to Leedon's "Bye Bye Baby, Bye Bye," did come out in the States, but did not chart here. It is "Bye Bye Baby Goodbye," (Decca 9-30933), a 1959 release by Col Joye and the Joye Boys.

IZ ZAT SO? Earlier this year, we cited some examples of familiar 1950s and '60s hits that were banned by ultraconservative radio stations here and there in the U.S. In the big picture, those isolated tactics rarely affected anything of consequence.

However, almost immediately after it hit the streets, Paul Wayne's "Don't Do That" (Leedon LK-477) was denounced, not by just one or two radio stations, but by a higher power — Australia's Federation of Commercial Broadcasting Stations.

Also known as FARB (Federation of Australian Radio Broadcasters), this agency could be likened to our FCC (Federal Communications Commission).

The Angel Baby Song - 1960 Hit by Rosie & The Originals

It is my sincere wish that long time readers of the CVR blog will appreciate this story, it is not my writing but that of a friend in music and vinyl records. Danny Sandrik owns and operates All-About-VinylRecords.com, a site dedicated to vinyl records, the music he loves and the players who play it. Now, Danny is not a 'professional' writer, and he may have a dangling participle here or there (though, honestly, i wouldn't know it if he did), but his words are from the pure passion of enjoying the music and living in the time when it was popular. From time to time, Danny's articles will be featured here on the CVR blog and i hope that you enjoy Danny's words - as much as enjoyed writing them. Please, feel free to comment on the stories and please stop by his site All-About-VinylRecords.com, where you can discover the best fifties, sixties and seventies vinyl record album information, plus cool videos and artist biographies.

A sincere thank you do Danny for allowing me to reprint his words, enjoy!

The Angel Baby Song - 1960 Hit by Rosie & The Originals

written by Danny Sandrik

This Angel Baby song was written by 14 year old Rosie Hamlin and became a Top Five Doo-Wop hit back in 1960 after the song was originally played in a local Dept Store.

Rosie had scribbled the Angel Baby Song on the back of her notebook as a sophomore at Mission Bay High School in San Diego.

It started out as a poem for the very first boyfriend she ever had and was written right before she joined the Originals.

Rosie's mother bought her a piano and her Aunt began teaching her some chords. As she continued to learn on the piano and sing a family friend would bring over local musicians for jam sessions.

Rosie had already written Angel Baby when she was fourteen and after many sessions together the group decided to record the song when Rosie was just fifteen.

The Recording Studio Surprise Rosie didn't expect!

It was a hot summer day when the group got into a car and headed out to San Marcos, California, to a rented recording studio described as somewhere in the middle of no-where.

The original group consisted of David Ponci and Noah Tafolla on Guitar and Tony Gomez on Bass. Carl Von Goodat later joined on Drums and Alfred Barrett on Sax.

When they arrived what appeared to be an old barn was actually an abandoned airplane hangar owned by a retired airplane mechanic.

The recording studio was a corner of the hangar surrounded by airplane parts, but it did have a set of drums and a piano in that corner.

To make matters worse the sax player, Alfred Barrett, said he would join them later but failed to show because he had to mow the lawn.

Remember, they were just teens at the time, so some had chores to do before going anywhere. They were in trouble without a sax player but Noah had an idea.

He had played a little Sax and decided to teach Tony Gomez the Sax part so the Bass player is actually playing the Sax on the original recording. Now back to the Recording Studio.

The Surprise Flip-side Recording.

The recording equipment consisted of an old two-track machine. The group recorded the Angle Baby song over and over, a reported thirty times or more before they got the take they wanted and thought they were done.

The "Airplane Hangar Recording engineer" then asks "What do you want on the other side?" As they were new in the business they completely forgot about the flip side of the record, but luck was with them.

Their old friend Blueford Wade, a vocalist that sat in on gigs with Rosie when he wasn't with his own band, was along for the ride. Noah again had a suggestion. He asked Blueford to just ad-lib something and that's how "Give Me Love" made it on the B-side of that 45rpm record.

The Angel Baby Song is a Department Store Hit!

When the record was finished the group ran into trouble landing a record deal and couldn't get an appointment with any of the recording labels, but they didn't give up.

They took their master recording to Kresge's Department Store in San Diego and asked the Manager to play the song in one of the listening booths of the music department. They wanted it piped into the store so the teens shopping for records could hear it also.

They suggested to the Manager that if the teens liked the song maybe they could sell it in the store. The Manager agreed and allowed them to play the song throughout the store.

The kids loved the song and wanted to know where to buy the record. There was a distributor for Highland Records in the store that day and he came over to see what all the commotion was about.

He offered the group a recording contract on the spot, but only under the condition that the company take possession of the master recording. He also said that David Ponci had to be named as the author of the song as he was the eldest of the group.

The group was young and eager for success so they gave them their master with no contract signed.

Good times turn bad for Rosie & the Originals.

It was about three weeks later the Angel Baby song was played on the radio by DJ Allen Freed before the group had received their contract.

He made mention that the song was by a young girl named Rosie and told everyone listening that this was going to be a hit song.

He continued playing the song six to ten times a day before Rosie finally contacted someone at Highland to meet them with a contract.

She had to take her mother to sign because Rosie was a minor. Hamlin later discovered she was ineligible to collect record royalties from the song because she was not listed as the song writer.

This eventually led to the group's break-up. Hamlin finally secured the copyright to her music in 1961 but battles over royalities lasted for decades.

They were musicians not business people. They got burned like so many others in those days as there was no one available immediately to help many young artists with legal advice.

I have read articles indicating that immediately after writing the song, Rosie certified-mailed herself a copy so that it would be legally dated.

If this really happened it was a wise move in view of the legal mess later created by Highland Records, costing Rosie many years in lost royalties.

Remember the Darling Lorraine song I wrote about. Same thing happened to the writer of that song. You can read that story here.

Rosie & the Originals - In Good Company.

After her days with Highland Records, Jackie Wilson asked Rosie to come to New York, along with guitarist Noah Tafolla, where they recorded "Lonely Blue Nights" for the Brunswick label.

Soon after they began opening for Jackie Wilson at the Brooklyn Paramount Theater for six shows daily. The show included Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Marcells, Benny King, The Isley Brothers, Del Shannon, Bobby Vee and Bobby Rydel among others.

Rosie has worked with other great entertainers including Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. She opened for the "Rolling Stones" when they first came to the US.

John Lennon recorded the Angel Baby Song and made mention that little Rosie was one of his favorite American Artists.

This Angel Baby song made it to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1960. It remained on the charts for twelve weeks.

For someone that had just a single hit song "Angel Baby", Rosie Hamlin has proved that she should be remembered for more than that one hit single.

Her cover versions of "A Thousand Stars", The One That Really Loves You and Your No Good are superb covers, and her original 'Lonely Blue Nights' deserved to be a hit song.

Hamlin and Tafolla married and had two children together.

In 2002, Hamlin performed this "Angel Baby" video on a PBS-TV program, Red White & Rock.

Please note that here she is performing this classic with a full orchestra of professional musicians. In 1960 she recorded this in a converted airplane hanger with her teenage friends.

Forty two years later, no flat notes, perfect pitch all the way through the song. A tribute to her lasting talent.

FANTASTIC 140 GRAM CLEAR QUADROUPLE VINYL REISSUE OF THIS LEGENDARY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN LIVE PERFORMANCE AVAILABLE IN A DELUXE HARDBACK SLIPCASE

The words 'legendary', 'seminal' and 'classic' are very often over-used in the heated hyperbole that surround rock concerts in general and Bruce Springsteen gigs in particular. They lead to overblown phrases such as "essential for every fan" and one of his greatest ever shows. This recording of a concert Bruce and the E-Street Band played in Philadelphia in February 1975 really is that of a legendary Springsteen show, a seminal moment in his career, a classic performance and an essential part of any fan's library of The Boss work. This is one of his greatest ever performances.

Blind Boys Of Alabama - I'll Find A Way

I'll Find a Way represents a strong new chapter for the Blind Boys of Alabama, whose career stretches back more than seventy years. Formed in the late 1930s at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in Talladega, the group has harmonized throughout the turbulent twentieth century and well into the twenty-first. They have enjoyed some of their biggest successes in the last ten years, during which they've won five Grammys, four Gospel Music Awards and multiple invitations to sing at the White House.

Produced by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver, Kathleen Edwards), I'll Find A Way is a unique collaboration between one of popular music's longest-running acts and one of its fastest-rising stars. Known primarily for his work in the indie and folk realms, the Bon Iver frontman proved a perfect fit to work with the Blind Boys, exhibiting a deep knowledge and appreciation of gospel music.

I'll Find a Way features some of the Blind Boys' most fervent vocals as well as contributions by a new generation of Blind Boys fans - Sam Amidon, Shara Worden of My Brightest Diamond, Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs, Casey Dienel of White Hinterland, Patty Griffin, and Justin Vernon himself. The result is a rousing collection of gospel songs, new and old, that address life's most desperate hours but also savor the triumphs and reassurances of faith.

Los Lobos - How Will The Wolf Survive

Produced by T-Bone Burnett, the major breakthrough of Los Lobos' How Will The Wolf Survive? was a launching pad for the tried & true sound of these Latin American musical heroes.

Honing their craft in '70s L.A. by doing loads of weddings and dance gigs, they incorporated Rock into their Mexican sound which resulted in a Pop staple of legendary proportions. The band switch easily between Rockers like "Don't Worry Baby" and "A Matter Of Time" and modern Mexican evergreens "Corrida #1" and "Serenata Norteña."

Marsheaux - Inhale (Limited) 2LP (Translucent Blue)

Artoffact Records re-issues Inhale on double-vinyl with all-new cover art and three previously unreleased bonus tracks. The vinyl comes in two editions, audiophile black and a limited (100 copies worldwide) translucent blue for collectors.

"I do have a soft spot for Marsheaux," Andy McCluskey of OMD has been quoted as saying, and no doubt the Greek synthpop duo have garnered many accolades in their 10 year career. Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou have indeed taken Europe's synthpop scene by storm over four albums and high-profile remixes. The Human League played their track "What a Lovely Surprise" in the pre-show music for the Steel City tour; the duo were commissioned to do an official remix for OMD; and Tom Robinson and Stuart Maconie (BBC Radio 6 hosts) have praised their work.

2013 saw the release of Inhale, Marsheaux's most accomplished and successful record to date, and the duo's fourth full-length. With top marks from the likes of Vancouver's V-Rag Magazine and Collapse Board's Everett True, Inhale is a glorious synthpop record, one of 2013's best.

We expect this product in stock on December 3rd.

Vinyl Record News & Music Notes

from our friends at ThrillJockey

Mountains - Mountains Mountains Mountains

Mountains Mountains Mountains was originally released in 2008 on the Catsup Plate label in a tiny edition of 500 copies that quickly sold out. Thrill Jockey is happy to re-issue the album in a limited edition of 1,000 copies with different artwork (an inverted color scheme from the original) pressed on high quality virgin vinyl with a download coupon for the first time.

Reflecting on Mountains Mountains Mountains’, Koen Holtkamp states:  “One thing that strikes me on listening back 5 or so years later is both how different and similar it sounds to what we are currently doing. While these pieces are clearly more minimal and intimate on some level and our technical approach has changed somewhat, the dynamics between the acoustic and electronic elements remain fairly consistent throughout our releases. Which is something we’ve been engaged with from the beginning and part of what defines us as a band.”

Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock (Dual Speed Vinyl)

In the fall of 1957 "Jailhouse Rock" was first released in the US as a single backed with "Treat Me Nice" and was #1 for seven weeks. Early in 1958 it entered the British charts at number one, making it the first single ever to do so and remained there for three weeks. "Jailhouse Rock" also spent some time at the top of the Country and the R&B charts.  Jailhouse Rock was not  released as an LP although it contains some of Elvis's best songs.

Five of the six songs from the movie were released as part of an extended-play, seven-inch 45 RPM record that soon topped the Billboard EP charts, eventually selling an additional two million copies and earning another double-platinum RIAA certification.

The Jailhouse Rock tunes are unassailable - the writing and production team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller played prominent roles in the making of the soundtrack. The pair took over the recording sessions, serving as unofficial producers of "Jailhouse Rock," "Treat Me Nice," "(You're So Square) Baby, I Don't Care," and other tunes. Their collaboration with Elvis and his musicians on "Jailhouse Rock" resulted in the singer's hardest-rocking movie song. As D.J. Fontana once noted about his drum playing on the record, "I tried to think of someone on a chain gang smashing rocks."

The performance in the film of the title song by the young and sensual, "dangerous" Elvis complete with chorus boys dressed as convicts is legendary.

One of the best of Presley's films, Jailhouse Rock is a perfect balance of song and story - seldom would Elvis be so well showcased in the future.

Elvis Presley's songs have become an integral part of American culture. All were interpreted and recorded by one of the most successful performers American popular music has ever seen. The Jailhouse Rock EP soundtrack is a classic example of the "early" Elvis on the rise to super-stardom. Elvis at his best.
