THE SWORD Covers THIN LIZZY's 'Cold Sweat' For New 7" Single
Austin, Texas' THE SWORD recently recorded a cover version of THIN LIZZY's "Cold Sweat" for a split seven-inch single that will be released through Volcom Entertainment's Vinyl Club. On the flip side will be YEAR LONG DISASTER covering THE SWORD's "Maiden, Mother & Crone" with Rob from KARMA TO BURN on drums.

RECORD CRACK: Cowboy Indian Bear/It’s True split it up evenly on new 7 inch
Bring together a band from Omaha, Nebraska (Cowboy Indian Bear), unite them with a band from Lawrence, Kansas (It’s True) and you have what may be one of the hottest releases of the year. Cowboy Indian Bear and It’s True have just released a split 7" record on a label called The Record Machine. Despite their name, they have only released CD’s and MP3’s up until now, so they are now able to place their first piece of vinyl into an actual record machine.
Both bands are playing at this year’s SXSW, check their respective MySpace pages for details.
If it does well, perhaps The Record Machine will continue to release additional pieces of vinyl. Here’s to records.

Iggy Pop Confident The Stooges Can Record New Material
Iggy Pop has said he is confident that The Stooges can record new material following the death of guitarist Ron Asheton. Asheton, one of the band's founding members, died in January last year at the age of 60. He has been replaced by guitarist James Williamson, who joined the group in 1971 and most famously featured on their 1973 album 'Raw Power'.
Pop said the group were working on material written before Asheton's death and that Williamson was keen to get involved. Pop told Billboard the returning guitarist "is already on me like a greased cat.
"He's sending me riffs, so I did some vocals to a couple of them and it's starting to sound like something”.
The singer also revealed that the band were hoping to re-record some heavily bootlegged Stooges songs dating back to the 1970s.
"Ultimately I'd like to get into the studio with the group and maybe have a couple old songs, a couple new songs and then a little time to just jam and see what happens," Pop said.

“I’d love to do something, I’d love to do an album with Jimmy Page,” he told BBC6music's Sean Keaveny. “He needs a singer to drive him. I’m a great blues singer.
“I don’t sing the blues with The Who, but that’s what I used to be before Townshend started writing. I used to be a great blues singer.”
