Rolling Stones Tour In The Works?
The band celebrated the 50th anniversary of its first gig at a bash in London last night by attending a retrospective photo exhibition at London's Somerset House.
Rollings Stones guitarist Keith Richards is hinting about the potential of a full tour for the band, but not giving up too many details. He confirmed reports that the Stones have been rehearsing with an eye on their 50th anniversary - but they don’t have dates just yet.
"There’s things in the works, I think it’s definitely happening," Richards told the BBC. "But when? I can’t say yet. We’re playing around with the idea and had a couple of rehearsals — we’ve got together and it feels so good."
at what point will they be considered just too old to rock and roll?

Tyler Quits American Idol
Steven Tyler has recently announced that he will not return as a judge on American Idol. Instead of spending another year co-hosting a the droopy televised singing competition, the Aerosmith frontman will focus on his iconic band. Tyler stated:
"After some long……hard……thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back — but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass."
"The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass--the ultimate in auditory takeover... On Nov 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars...'Idol' was over the top fun, and I loved every minute of it. Now it's time to bring rock back."
He talks the talk, now it's time to walk the walk....

PANTERA'S FINAL THREE ALBUMS ON WAX
The Great Southern Trendkill, Reinventing The Steel, And Official Live: 101 Proof
Will Be Set For 180-Gram Vinyl Release On July 24 From Rhino
LOS ANGELES – Earlier this year, Rhino unveiled the 20th Anniversary Edition of Pantera’s Vulgar Display of Power, which featured the debut of the incendiary lost track "Piss." Following up on Vulgar’s success, Rhino continues to honor Pantera’s legacy as one of metal’s most influential bands by offering the Texas quartet’s final three releases on 180-gram vinyl.
Presented in gatefold jackets, THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL, OFFICIAL LIVE: 101 PROOF and REINVENTING THE STEEL will be available July 24 from retail outlets, including www.pantera.com and www.rhino.com. The first two albums are double LPs and available for a suggested price of $24.98 each, while STEEL will be issued as a single LP for $17.98.
This vinyl release of TRENDKILL is different from an earlier version that was issued as a single LP without the track "Suicide Note Pt. I." To include the song for this new release and ensure ultimate sound quality, Rhino expanded the album to a double LP.
Recorded over four years (1996-2000), these two studio albums and live collection represent the final three releases from Pantera, singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul.
The follow-up to the classic Far Beyond Driven, THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL is the group’s fourth platinum album, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard charts. It yielded three singles, "Drag The Waters," "Suicide Note Pt. I" and "Floods," the latter an epic track that features one of Dimebag’s defining guitar solos.
The following year, the band returned with its first live album, the gold-certified OFFICIAL LIVE: 101 PROOF. Recorded during the tour for Trendkill, the collection captures the group at the peak of its live prowess as it grinds and grooves through many of its greatest songs, like "Walk," "Cowboys From Hell" and "Cemetery Gates," as well as "Dom/Hollow," which combines the tracks "Domination" and "Hollow." Along with the live recordings, the release also includes two studio recordings, "Where You Come From" and "I Can’t Hide."
The group’s final studio album, REINVENTING THE STEEL was certified gold, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard charts. Along with the singles "Revolution Is My Name" and "I’ll Cast A Shadow," the album’s other standout tracks include "Death Rattle" and "Goddamn Electric," which features a guest guitar solo by Slayer’s Kerry King.

Additionally, Concord Music Group is launching five new titles in its Very Best Of Jazz series, which will showcase some of the very best tracks culled from the recordings of some of the most influential artists in the history of the genre. The five new titles, which highlight the work of Dave Brubeck, Vince Guaraldi, The Bill Evans Trio, Thelonious Monk, and Cannonball Adderley, are set for release on August 7, 2012. Each collection is mastered by Joe Tarantino — who has brilliantly remastered most of Concord’s highly acclaimed jazz reissues — and supplemented with liner notes by well-known music journalists, historians, and scholars.
The Very Best of Dave Brubeck - The Fantasy Era is a 15-track portrait of the legendary pianist in his early days on the Fantasy label between 1949 and 1953. "This collection presents the music of Dave Brubeck — but before he became ‘Dave Brubeck,’" says Neil Tesser in his liner notes, referring to the mantle of fame that the artist had assumed by the late ’50s. "Brubeck thought of himself as a composer who happened to play piano, but his concepts were way ahead of his time . . . So he supported himself as a jazz pianist, applying his remarkable ear to the music he heard but had never learned to read. The recordings in this collection document those days, starting with Brubeck’s first trio, which comprised the rhythm section from his octet: bassist Ron Crotty and drummer Cal Tjader, who would later achieve fame as a Latin-jazz vibraphonist."
The Very Best of Vince Guaraldi contains 14 tracks from Fantasy sessions between 1957 and 1966, including Guaraldi’s 1962 Grammy winning hit, "Cast Your Fate to the Wind," from Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus.
The Very Best of The Bill Evans Trio captures the celebrated pianist at the front of his most influential trio, which included bassist Scott LaFaro and drummer Paul Motian. Recorded in three sessions between December 1959 and June 1961 and produced by Orrin Keepnews, the 11 tracks in this collection are culled from the trio’s four Riverside albums, Portrait in Jazz, Explorations, Waltz for Debby, and Sunday at the Village Vanguard. This cohesive line up came to an abrupt and tragic end less than two weeks after the last of the three sessions when LaFaro died in an auto accident in upstate New York.
The Very Best of Thelonious Monk includes ten tracks recorded between 1954 and 1957, mostly for Prestige and Riverside, but with one track from Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane, a 1957 album on Jazzland, a Riverside subsidiary label.
The Very Best of Cannonball Adderley encompasses a broad swath of the saxophonist’s career, from the Portrait of Cannonball and Things Are Getting Better sessions in 1958 to the Inside Straight and Phenix sessions in 1973 and 1975, respectively. Everywhere along this 17-year continuum, says Ashley Kahn in his liner notes, Adderley demonstrates his ongoing commitment to playing for the benefit and satisfaction of the audience and not for that of the artist or the band.

Infrasonic Sound Recording Co. Expands Mastering Facility With New Location in Echo Park
Studio Meets Demand of Growing Vinyl Industry With One-of-a Kind Vinyl Cutting Room and Custom Studio Designed by Sound and Structure
(Los Angeles, CA – July 12, 2012) Infrasonic Sound Recording Company, a 16/24 track classic recording studio and audio & vinyl mastering facility, has officially expanded their operation with a custom built mastering studio located at 1176 W. Sunset Blvd in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Recently named one of the top "Temples of Sound" by The Hollywood Reporter, Infrasonic’s corresponding recording studio will remain at its East L.A. location, just five miles away from the new mastering suites.
Under the direction of Co-Owner and Principal Mastering Engineer Pete Lyman, Infrasonic Mastering will officially open its doors at 1176 W. Sunset on Wednesday, July 18th. The staff, including GRAMMY Award winning engineer John Greenham and mastering assistant Phillip Rodriguez, will operate out of three dedicated mastering studios and a one-of-a kind vinyl cutting room, equipped with Infrasonic’s vintage Scully cutting lathe.
"Just three years ago Infrasonic’s CD and digital mastering sessions matched, if not slightly exceeded our vinyl mastering sessions," says Pete Lyman. "As vinyl sales continue to rise and the niche of this industry continues to expand, we’re fortunate enough to have a client roster that’s nearly doubled in size - both for digital and vinyl mastering. Infrasonic Mastering wanted to open a space that wasn’t just state of the art in terms of acoustics and design, but also someplace that local bands, clients and labels can come check out the behind the scenes process of audio & vinyl mastering." Lyman continues, "It was important to select a space that’s centrally located and part of a thriving music scene but also close to Infrasonic Sound Recording. We’re really proud of the community we built around our initial studio location and look forward to bringing that to the new space as well."
Infrasonic has mastered releases for artists like No Age (also a longtime client of Infrasonic Sound Recording), Wavves, Best Coast, Fool’s Gold, Shooter Jennings, People Under the Stairs and Butch Walker to name a few. In partnership with Infrasonic Sound Recording, the studio has also completed a number of direct to vinyl releases, including a session for Beck in 2007.
1176 W. Sunset was designed and built by Robert Maune of Sound and Structure (SaS), a Southern California based company specializing in studio design, acoustic treatment and modernist restoration. Additionally, the flagship showroom for Vintage King Audio, a leading dealer of high-end new and vintage recording equipment, will open on the first floor of 1176 Sunset, including a critical listening room, mic locker and a main room equipped with several listening stations, affording clients the opportunity to hear their own music through any equipment on the showroom floor.
"The common thread between Infrasonic Sound and Vintage King is that we’re all musicians; we all love making records - especially with analog gear," says Jeff Ehrenberg, Infrasonic Sound Co–Owner and Head of Los Angeles sales for Vintage King Audio. "To my knowledge, this is the first facility where an artist can attend their mastering session, watch their vinyl lacquer get cut and head downstairs to demo some of the best analog recording gear in the world. This is a passion project for everyone involved and we’re excited to share it with our clients."
