ALIVE NATURALSOUND RECORDS TO REISSUE SOUL LEGEND SWAMP DOGG'S NEWLY REMASTERED FIRST TWO SEMINAL ALBUMS FROM THE EARLY '70S: TOTAL DESTRUCTION TO YOUR MIND & RAT ON! ON MARCH 5TH!

SWAMP DOGG OFFERS FANS FREE DOWNLOADS OF "IF I DIE TOMORROW" (FROM TOTAL DESTRUCTION...) & "CREEPING AWAY" (FROM RAT ON!)

Maverick soul artist Swamp Dogg (aka Jerry Williams) has been described as the “soul genius that time forgot," and “a strange combination of Sly Stone’s progressive funk with Frank Zappa’s lyrical absurdism." In the '70s he even made the famed Nixon’s Enemies List.

Alive Naturalsound Records is proud to bring you Swamp Dogg’s first two albums, newly remastered and re-released for the very first time on vinyl since their original release in the early '70s. Total Destruction To Your Mind (1970), has been called “one of the most gloriously gonzo soul recordings of all time," while Rat On! (1971) was ranked as having one of the top ten worst album covers of all time, an achievement that Swamp Dogg is rightfully proud of to this day.

The two remastered reissues of Swamp Dogg's early '70s albums Total Destruction To Your Mind and Rat On! will be available on Black Vinyl and CD on March 5th. In addition, there will also be a very limited pressing of Colored Vinyl for both albums exclusive to mailorders through Bomp!

"He sings like some unfrozen Atlantic soul man of the sixties - his voice clarion pure, his phrasing a model of smoldering restraint." - ROLLING STONE

"He's made some of the maddest, funny, baddest, odd, angry, funkiest soul records." - MOJO

"Vocally, Swamp Dogg sounds like a cross between General Johnson (of Chairmen of the Board) and Van Morrison; as a songwriter, he’s his own man. With the exception of Sly Stone, no other soul men of the period were investigating controversial topics with such infectious musicality and good humor." – AMG

THE RETURN OF PAUL REVERE & THE RAIDERS’ MARK LINDSAY

Mark Lindsay, lead singer/songwriter/producer for the seminal 60’s Garage Rock band Paul Revere & the Raiders has released “Like Nothing That You’ve Seen,” the first single from his upcoming album which is slated for an early May 2013 release.

The song was co-written and produced by Gar Francis, songwriter/guitarist of New Jersey Garage Rock veterans, the Doughboys. “Like Nothing That You’ve Seen” features backing vocals by Myke Scavone (Doughboys), Kurt Reil (Gripweeds), and special guest, Little Steven Van Zandt. The single follows in the butt-kickin’ footsteps of Lindsay’s classic 60’s tracks with the Raiders like “Kicks,” “Stepping Out,” “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone” and “Just like Me.”

“I first met Mark Lindsay when I was recording the new Doughboys album Shakin' Our Souls,” explains co-writer/producer Gar Francis.  “I had asked Kurt, the owner of House of Vibes, if he knew of anyone who could add saxophone to a track I was working on called ‘It's A Crying Shame.’ Kurt mentioned that he was doing some sessions with Mark Lindsay, the singer from Paul Revere and the Raiders, who was also a great sax player.

“Mark came down and added the sax parts and also sang background vocals for the track. As he was leaving the session, I had casually mentioned that if he ever wanted to collaborate on some songs to give me a call.  Well after he returned home to Florida, he gave me a call and we started working on songs via e-mail for the next three months, producing a boat-load of tunes for a new Mark Lindsay album.

"’Like Nothing That You've Seen, is one of the first songs we came up with, and we decided to go into the studio to cut and release it as a single before the album. I wanted Mark to return to his Garage roots and I think we did a good job of capturing that spirit. I hope you dig it as much as we do. “

Watch for more information coming soon!

Kurt Von Stetten - Androlafi

The term "bedroom project" carries numerous pejorative connotations, namely lo-fi, half-baked experimentation. But in the world of Kurt von Stetten, the bedroom is merely ground zero for songs that transcend time and genre. Harnessing von Stetton's love of early 90s indie rock (think Pavement, Sebadoh and early Modest Mouse) interweaved with his own insecurities, fears and passions, von Stetton's seventh solo outing Androlafi is his most accomplished and self-assured, a record that proudly stands alongside DIY revisionists Kurt Vile and Ty Segall, and also the seminal 90s output of his heroes.

Kurt von Stetten began experimenting with music and recordings in Boston during the summer of 1996. During this time, he began to experience terrible bouts of "self proclaimed"  bromhidrosis (look it up), forcing him to record alone in his bedroom. For a period of 10 years, von Stetten holed up in his bedroom studio and learned how to play guitar and drums by recording himself over and over again. Since 2006 he has released a full-length album every year for the last 7 years on which he plays every instrument (Guitar, Vocals, Cello, Keys, Drums/Percussion and Bass).

The themes of Androlafi (aka Witches) are conjured from von Stetten's obsession with gothic folklore and the eternally frightening cautionary tales told to children. "I think that most of these songs reference fear and how people deal with fear," explains von Stetten. "Many of the songs are based on the stories my mother and father told me about their childhood and the stories that were told to them. These stories were fun and fantastic, but meant to mask great anxieties. Fear is a powerful motivator and the impetus for a lot of beauty."
