Blues Magoos - Electric Comic Book LP

Garage/punk/psychedelia pioneers!

The Blues Magoos launched their recording career with the LP Psychedelic Lollipop. The equally impressive Electric Comic Book refines the band's mix of rock ’n’ roll and day-glo psychedelia. That punchy yet playful approach animates such distinctive numbers as “Pipe Dream,” “Rush Hour,” “There’s a Chance We Can Make It” and “Albert Common Is Dead.”

Sundazed’s new vinyl edition also features a replica of the original comic book that was packaged with the album’s original pressings.

This ’60s garage-psych nugget is now available from Sundazed on High Definition Vinyl, sourced from the original Mercury-label stereo masters, with the colorful original cover art meticulously reproduced.

In their '60s heyday, the Blues Magoos were one of the first garage-punk bands to achieve mainstream success, and one of the first to embrace psychedelia. Early in their existence, the Bronx-bred quintet's high-energy live sets made them a popular attraction on the Greenwich Village club scene. Once they began making records, they quickly emerged as one of one of the earliest and most inventive exponents of the psychedelic sound. The band's 1966 debut album Psychedelic Lollipop and its 1967 followup Electric Comic Book, are two of that period's most beloved and enduring albums.

Dick Dale and His Del-Tones - Checkered Flag LP

Though he was renowned as “The King of the Surf Guitar,” Dick Dale detoured onto the drag strip in 1963 and created Checkered Flag, a landmark album of the hot-rod genre. Backed by studio pros like Hal Blaine, Earl Palmer, Plas Johnson and Steve Douglas, Dick laid down tough, reverb-soaked instrumentals like “Night Rider” and “The Wedge,” highlighting his unique technique and deeply varied sonic textures. The album also features vocal numbers, like lead track “The Scavenger,” penned by some of the top pop tunesmiths of the day, including Gary Usher, Gary Paxton and Carol Connors. Whether vocal or instrumental, each and every one of these songs invokes the sound, speed and spirit of the racetrack, with motors roaring and crowds cheering. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!

Sourced from the original Capitol Records stereo masters, this Sundazed Music edition of Checkered Flag is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and includes complete original artwork. What are you waiting for? Hop in your ho-dad machine now and go grab a copy!

Fever Tree - Live 1969 LP

Previously unissued live recording showcasing the final stage appearance by this legendary garage combo’s original lineup!

The never-released 1969 live effort from Fever Tree! Gulf Coast punk phenoms the Bostwick Vines see Cream and Hendrix and bring their tough interpretation of that combination to Hollywood, California. With three unique studio albums to their name, Fever Tree splinters after this live gig in Texas, but not before laying down one final testament to their evermore worth as swooning psychedelic rockers.

Sharpening their chops on the Gulf Coast circuit, followed by a high-profile opening night gig at Hollywood’s legendary Kaleidoscope, Fever Tree developed a keen sense of musical drama and dynamics. This versatility is in sharp display on the concert’s rendition of their underground radio hit “San Francisco Girls (Return of the Native).” For the rest, Live 1969 focuses on groovers, a perfect set-up for the gliding fuzztones of lead guitarist Michael Knust, the sonic organ of Rob Landes, the thick rhythms provided by E.E. “Bud” Wolfe III on bass and John Tuttle on drumsand the dynamic, driving lead vocals of Dennis Keller.

“Don’t Come Crying to Me Girl,” a song originally found on the band’s second album, levitates the band beyond any earthly confines. Elsewhere, the set moves between a soaring cover of Donovan’s “Hey Gyp,” their own power pop “Grand Candy Young Sweet” and a whirlng psych take on Wilson Pickett’s “Ninety-Nine and One Half (Won’t Do).” Playing as if their lives depended on it, Live 1969 captures a band at the height of its powers, forever preserved on this final audio testament.

The Five Americans  - I See the Light -LIMITED EDITION MONO- LP

The versatile Five Americans were so tapped into the heroic pop scene of 1965–66, they were able to pen brilliant original material that could, at times, sound something like the raw garage howl of the Rolling Stones, the jangle of the Byrds, the psychedelic mystery of Jefferson Airplane or the PhD folk-rock of Simon & Garfunkel. Best of all, lead guitarist Mike Rabon, keyboardist John Durrill, rhythm guitarist Norman Ezell, bassist Jim Grant and drummer Jimmy Wright, put their own distinct stamp on a string of smashes that began with the mighty “I See the Light” in early 1966.

Hailing from Oklahoma, this hungry quintet hit the jackpot when they moved en masse to Dallas and hooked up with the red-hot Abnak label, run by John Abnor, Sr. Their debut longplayer, I See the Light, was a perfect snapshot of what made 1966 a watershed year for rock. The song of the same name opens with what may be the most famous held organ note in rock history, then turns to a stomping bass line that would have been the envy of Slade’s Doc Marten army six years later. “Goodbye” is a perfect extension of the Slick–Balin vocal tandem about to catch fire in San Francisco. “I Know They Lie” has that Byrds/Brummels Rickenbacker jangle down pat. “Don’t Blame Me” and “It’s a Crying Shame,” a pair of snarling garage-rock nuggets, go directly for the jugular with results every bit as lethal as anything ever cut in the Lone Star state.

This 180 gram vinyl-only release is impeccably sourced from the original mono master tapes, the first time the album has been re-released in ultra-honest, bone-crunching mono.

Hot Tuna - Hot Tuna LP

1970 debut of rootsy side project by Jefferson Airplane members!

Jefferson Airplane members Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady formed Hot Tuna in 1969 during a hiatus while Grace Slick recovered from throat node surgery. What began as a rootsy side project quickly became a full-fledged band, one that ultimately far out-lived the original group. Based from the start on Kaukonen’s and Casady’s expert musicianship, Hot Tuna sought to explore traditional blues and folk styles apart from the heavy rock sound of the Airplane. Longtime students of folk-blues pioneers like Reverend Gary Davis, Blind Blake and Jelly Roll Morton, the duo mixed traditional songs with their own compositions in a stripped-down, primarily acoustic style. At a time when Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and their peers were adding stack after Marshall stack to their stage gear, this was indeed a radical move.

Recorded live during a week of shows at Berkeley’s New Orleans House, the band’s self-titled 1970 debut is an acoustic affair highlighting the country blues approach of their heroes. It features several of their signature songs, including “Hesitation Blues,” “Uncle Sam Blues” and “Know You Rider.” Listen closely during “Uncle Sam Blues” for the sound of breaking beer glasses. This bit of audio vérité resulted in it being nicknamed “the breaking glass album” by the group’s loyal fanbase.

This landmark recording has been sourced from the original analog RCA masters and includes the complete original artwork. A riveting performance from beginning to end, it was the start of one of the most successful and influential branches in rock music’s ever-evolving family tree.

new releases from our friends at MusicOnVinyl

Randy Newman - Faust

Randy Newman's Faust is a 1993 musical based the work on the classic story of Faust. Newman borrowed elements from the version by Goethe, as well as Milton's Paradise Lost, but updated the story to the modern day and infused it with humorous cynicism. In this retelling, God and the Devil fight for the soul of Henry Faust, a student at the University of Notre Dame.

Vocal duties are co handled by James Taylor, Elton John, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt and Don Henley. Available on vinyl for the first time! 180 gram audiophile vinyl

Miles Davis - Doo-Bop

Miles Davis was on the forefront of many new subgenres of music; he even invented the mix of Jazz and Hip Hop with Doo Bop (1992), a collaboration with producer Easy Mo Bee. Bee was involved in production work for Big Daddy Kane and Notorious B.I.G., which earned him grand stature in Hip Hop circles. Miles chose him for laying down groundworks for entertaining trumpet soloing as only Miles Davis can do. Several tracks on Doo Bop were finished right after the death of Miles Davis. A worthy goodbye to the master of the Jazz trumpet.  180 gram audiophile vinyl

Bonnie Raitt - The Glow

Bonnie Raitt's The Glow (1979) captured her in an important period of her career, taking on popular cover material such as "I Thank You" by Sam & Dave, "Your Good Thing (Is About To End)" by  Lou Rawls and Jackson Browne's "You're Gonna Get What's Coming."

Her tough image is complemented by a polished production by Paul Rothchild, who's famous for putting The Doors, Janis Joplin, Tim Buckley, Love and The Paul Butterfield Band on tape. The Glow is a wonderful Raitt exercise, belonging in the ranks of best Raitt albums.  180 gram audiophile vinyl and Insert!

really enlightening article about the sale of vinyl, yes, vinyl is back, but it is not the all-consuming industry it once was, but the fact that a younger audience is buying vinyl (with Daft Punk selling the best so far this year) and more and more bands are releasing music via the format means that we will have a collector's market for many years to come!
