PRIMAL FEAR: More 'Unbreakable' Album Details Revealed

German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR will release their ninth studio album, "Unbreakable", on January 24, 2012 in the U.S. via Frontiers Records. The effort was tracked in part at House Of Music studios in Winterbach, Germany with producer/bassist Mat Sinner and engineer Achim Köhler (EDGUY, MASTERPLAN).

According to a press release, "Unbreakable" "combines the skills of the strongest PRIMAL FEAR lineup ever with a well-balanced 'back-to-the-roots" vibe and an ambitious learning process during their longest tour so far. Classic and ultra-fresh PRIMAL FEAR riff-rockers like 'Strike', 'Give 'Em Hell' or the high-speed track 'And There Was Silence' will hit the bulls-eye, like the rhythm paced metal anthem, first single and new video clip 'Bad Guys Wear Black'. Less experiments, more rock! But there will be a nine-minute epic journey with a lot prog approach named 'Where Angels Die', a classic wonderful ballad 'Born Again' and the melodic power bomb 'Metal Nation'."

Grammy®- and Oscar-Winning Composer Michel Legrand Releases Holiday Album

Featuring: Iggy Pop, Jamie Cullum, MIKA, Teddy Thompson, Madeleine Peyroux, Carla Bruni, Rufus Wainwright and more!

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrated Oscar® and Grammy® Award-winning French composer Michel Legrand teams up with an eclectic and critically acclaimed group of artists from around the world for his new studio album, Noel! Noel!! Noel!!! Set for release on December 6th through Verve, it's just in time for the holiday season.

Legrand called on a glittering array of recording artists from around the world who jumped at the chance to work with the globally acclaimed songwriter and composer on his new studio album. This diverse group of artists includes the Grammy® Award-nominated, jazz-pop singer-songwriter Jamie Cullum; the multi-faceted singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright; the eclectic pop styling of MIKA; acclaimed singer and composer Teddy Thompson; folk-soul chanteuse Ayo; noted French singer Carla Bruni, and punk pioneer Iggy Pop. All gathered together for the recording of this unique holiday collection while recalling the melodies that lit up the Christmas of their own childhood. Iggy Pop remarked, "Gee. Wow. Michel Legrand. No kidding? Yeah, I'd love to do it. So that's kind of how the phone call went when I heard about this record. I was just really, really happy to be included, and to be present in a small way for Joyeux Noel En France 2011. Everybody singing on this is really bloody good. I envy Rufus, his beautiful French as well as his talent, and the three ladies on 'Noel d'espoir,' each one, are nothing short of bewitching. I guess now I'm cool with Santa Claus. By the way, when I was a boy, I too played the drums. Many thanks to Michel for the beautiful tracks and for allowing me to be a guest."

Michel Legrand and his team, comprising of the Big Band Jazz featuring 50 musicians including an orchestra of 34, and renowned sound engineer Lawrence Manchester, who has worked with Diana Krall, Regina Spektor, the Coen brothers on the True Grit soundtrack as well as Scorsese's The Departed, plus Spiderman, flew to New York for the recording of Noel! Noel!! Noel!!!

Included are Christmas classics such as "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night," "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and "Santa Baby," as well as the exclusive Legrand–penned song "Hope Christmas," written and recorded specifically for this album. Said Jamie Cullum, "Over the years of committing songs to memory I kept coming across songs and arrangements I loved. So often the name Michel Legrand turned up. I'm honored to be included on this collection created by Monsieur Legrand in some seriously auspicious company as well. This is not your typical Christmas album! God bless it for that!"

Tearing down the barriers between jazz, classical music and pop, Michel Legrand is at home in any musical situation and has worked with the likes of Orson Welles, Marcel Carne, Clint Eastwood, Norman Jewison, Louis Malle, Andrzej Wajda, Richard Lester and Claude Lelouch, to name just a few. His instrumental LP I Love Paris topped the U.S. album charts and was the first in a string of Legrand's hit records, including Holiday In Rome which reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200; the top 10 album Castles In Spain; The Umbrellas of Cherbourg which achieved massive worldwide success; the Thomas Crown Affair featuring the hit "The Windmills of Your Mind"; and the 1972 hit song "Brian's Song (The Hands Of Time)."

'Mark Twain: Words & Music' Benefit CD Package Released by Jimmy Buffett and Mailboat Records, Featuring Star-Studded Cast with Grammy Award-winning Producer Carl Jackson

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark Twain might best be remembered for his writings about life on the Mississippi River, featuring his most famous character Huck Finn. When Twain died over 100 years ago, he probably never would have imagined some of the world's most renowned actors, musicians, authors and entertainers would come together to celebrate his life. That celebration resulted in a new double-CD set that is burning up the charts and is particularly unique for bringing together personalities like best-selling author and rock star Jimmy Buffett; nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow; multiple Academy Award-winning film director and star Clint Eastwood; best-selling author and radio host Garrison Keillor; and a Who's Who of Country and Bluegrass music legends including Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Carl Jackson, Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris, Joe Diffie and more.

Dr. Cindy Lovell, Executive Director of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum, originally conceived the idea. Her childhood friend, Carl Jackson, is a Grammy-winning producer, singer, and songwriter. After hearing his 2003 Grammy-winning star-studded project honoring country music legends the Louvin Brothers, she approached him about producing a similar project honoring the 100-year passing of Twain and benefiting the home and museum. Once Carl said yes, she got backstage at a Jimmy Buffett concert where she approached him about participating in the project. Buffett has made a career of writing and singing about life on the water and is a huge Twain fan. He not only agreed to participate, but also made the decision to release the final project on his own label, Mailboat Records. He even came on board as the voice of Huck Finn, Twain's most beloved character. The final project resulted in Mark Twain: Words & Music, a double-CD with a 40-page booklet of liner notes. It was written and produced to benefit the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum and tells Twain's life from comet to comet in spoken word and song. The CD includes a mixture of narration, Twain's dialogue, and Huck's voice along with a combination of old music and new songs written specifically for this project.

In a challenging music industry, this project has racked up impressive results. Released on September 21, 2011, it only took two weeks to reach Amazon.com's Best Sellers Rank of #28 in Music, #26 in Pop, #7 in Country, #1 in Poetry, Spoken Word & Interviews, and #1 in Bluegrass. Customers have given it a 5-Star Rating. Sheryl Crow, who performs "Beautiful Dreamer" on the CD, has recently been listed for a possible Grammy in the Pop Music Category. The CD set, or songs from it, has made the Grammy eligibility list in several categories. CBS will broadcast the annual official nominations concert special on November 30, 2011 from Los Angeles. The Grammys are set for Feb. 12, 2012. The 2011 Grammy Award show had 26.6 million viewers. By sheer coincidence, November 30th is Mark Twain's birthday. Lovell envisions the CD project as something that can help raise money for the non-profit museum for years to come while inviting a new audience to Twain's work.

The star-studded cast is as follows:

•Huck Finn: Jimmy Buffett

•Narrator: Garrison Keillor

•Mark Twain: Clint Eastwood

•Susy Clemens: Angela Lovell

•Featured Performers: Emmylou Harris; Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver; Rhonda Vincent; Bradley Walker; Carl Jackson; The Church Sisters; Sheryl Crow; Brad Paisley; Marty Raybon; Val Storey; Vince Gill; Joe Diffie; Ricky Skaggs

•Musicians & Background Vocalists: Cia Cherryholmes; Tony Creasman; Kevin Grantt; Rob Ickes; Sonya Isaacs; Carl Jackson; Mike Johnson; Andy Leftwich; Joey Martin; Catherine Marx; Johnny Rawls; Jerry Salley; Adam Steffey

•Narrative written by: Cindy Lovell; Mark Twain

•Producer: Carl Jackson

•Executive Producers: Carl Jackson and Cindy Lovell

and in music history for today, november 14th:

In 1952, the first ever UK Pop chart was published by the New Musical Express after staff asked 53 record shops to divulge their sales returns. "Here In My Heart" by Al Martino was the first #1.

In 1956, Sam Phillips was at the mixing board for Jerry Lee Lewis' first Sun Records recording session, which produces the single "End Of The Road" / "Crazy Arms." Although the single failed to gain much attention, both songs showed a drive and energy that forecasted things to come.

In 1957, during the Boston stop of Alan Freed's "Biggest Show Of Stars" tour, another "rock 'n' roll riot" broke out. Five audience members were arrested for fighting during a performance by Fats Domino, and one man in the crowd, a sailor, was stabbed during the fight.

In 1960, Ray Charles' version of Hoagy Carmichael's 1930's standard "Georgia On My Mind" becomes the first of his three, US number one records. It made #24 in the UK.

In 1960, Elvis Presley's latest single, "It's Now Or Never," sold 780,000 copies in the UK during its first week of release, making it the fastest-selling song in the country's history.

In 1961, the Everly Brothers recorded "Crying In The Rain," which will make it to #6 in the US, becoming their twenty-fourth Top 40 hit. The song also reached #6 in the UK.

The Elvis Presley film 'Blue Hawaii' premiered in 1961.

In 1962, Bob Dylan recorded "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right." It was based on a melody taught to Dylan by folksinger Paul Clayton. In addition to the melody, Dylan borrowed a couple of lines from Clayton's "Who's Goin' To Buy You Ribbons When I'm Gone?" which was recorded in 1960.

The Monkees' "Daydream Believer" was certified Gold in 1967.

In 1970, Santana's version of "Black Magic Woman" was released in the US, where it would rise to #4 during a three month chart run. The song was written by Peter Green and first appeared as a Fleetwood Mac single in various countries in 1968. The single came from the Santana 'Abraxas' LP and reached #1 on the charts and hit quadruple platinum in 1986. Santana keybord player Gregg Rolie sang lead on this (he joined Journey in 1973).

After this was released, Peter Green befriended some people who were into black magic. In an interview with Cameron Crowe of Rolling Stone magazine, Christine McVie said these were the people who turned him on to acid, which led to Green leaving Fleetwood Mac.

For this song's solo, Santana played across the Latin rhythm on his Gibson Les Paul Special through the amp and rode the volume knob throughout the track to add sustain and distortion as required.

The 1:49 instrumental at the end is called "Gypsy Queen," and was written by Hungarian Jazz guitarist Gabor Szabo. It was omitted from the 1974 Greatest Hits album, even though radio stations usually play "Black Magic Woman" and "Gypsy Queen" as one song.

The album's cover features the 1961 painting Annunciation, by Mati Klarwein.

In 2003, the album was ranked number 205 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

In 1977, Wings release "Mull of Kintyre," a tune about Paul McCartney's Scottish home at the southwestern most tip of the Kintyre Peninsula in southwest Scotland. The bag pipe laced tune will become McCartney's all time best selling single in the UK, either with or without The Beatles. Despite being the first song to sell over two million copies in Great Britain, it was mostly ignored in North America.

In 1981, on the US singles chart, four of the the top ten songs were by Australian artists (Olivia Newton-John, Little River Band, Air Supply, Rick Springfield).

In 1987, although they had been divorced for twelve years, Sonny and Cher appear together on The Late Show, where they are coaxed by David Letterman into singing "I Got You Babe". The crowd gave the pair a standing ovation for what would prove to be their final performance together, as Sonny would die in a skiing accident in 1998.

In 1990, Milli Vanilli producer Frank Farian admits to reporters that Fabrice Morvan and Rob Pilatus never sang a note on the "Milli Vanilli" album. The duo eventually returned their Best New Artist Grammy.

In 1991, a riot at a New Kids on the Block concert in Berlin, Germany injurred over 1,000 people.

In 1992, a member of John Mellencamp's band, keyboardist John Cascella, is found dead in his car in Indiana. Authorities suspected that Cascella had a heart attack while driving.

In 1995, the Rolling Stones released the album, 'Stripped. The album is notable for being unlike any previous live release by the band. It features a mix of intimate club recordings and live-in-the-studio reinterpretations of some classic and obscure recordings from their extensive catalog.

In 2000, Eddie Snyder, pianist for the Cascades on their 1963, Billboard #3 hit, "Rhythm Of The Rain," died of cancer at the age of 63.

Also in 2000, Marilyn Manson's released 'Holy Wood (In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death).' The cover of the album was banned by several retail chains due to the cover art. The banning chains released an alternate cover. The cover depicts Manson on a crucifix.

In 2004, a new version of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" was recorded by a group of artists including Bono, Paul McCartney, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Robbie Williams, Keane, Snow Patrol, Travis and the Darkness.

birthdays today include (among others): Buckwheat Zydeco (64), James Young (Styx) (62), Stephen Bishop (60), Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot, W.A.S.P.) (60), Barry Brandt (Angel) (60), Alec John Such (Bon Jovi) (59) and Brian Yale (Matchbox 20) (43)
