The Standells LIVE ON TOUR-1966! 180 Gram Vinyl Pre-Order

The Standells’ amazing string of punkish, tough-guy anthems, like “Dirty Water” and “Sometimes Good Guys Don’t Wear White”, define the legacy of mid-sixties garage rock like nothing else. With the success of these records came ’66 tours with the Rolling Stones and Beach Boys. From all reports, the Standells proved a superb live act. But for decades, their on-stage reputation rested on an earlier, Pre-Tower label live album documenting the Standells in an unrecognizably clean-cut night club incarnation. But there’s a happy ending to this story. It turns out the Standells were in fact recorded at their peak, LIVE ON TOUR-1966! At last, here’s the whole knock-out live act from the year the Standells stormed the charts. All the ’66 hits are here including “Sometimes Good Guys Don’t Wear White”, “Why Pick On Me?” and of course, “Dirty Water” (in tremendous versions, all of them). Fan faves are also on board, like the fuzzed-out “Mr. Nobody” and stomping “Why Did You Hurt Me”. Highlights also include high energy covers of “Midnight Hour” and “Please, Please, Please”, to name just a few of these crowd-pleasers, showcasing the Standells’ R&B roots updated with ’66 sheen. Hearing the Standells’ road-tested, extended take on “Gloria” is not to be missed, either! Rescued from a professionally recorded concert at the University of Michigan, the Standells are captured in astonishingly clean sound that rivals their legendary studio recordings. This may just be the finest recorded example of vintage live ’66 American garage rock. It’s all here, the Standells in brilliant sound and in a superb package including rare photos and liner notes.

The Shadows of Knight LIVE 1966 180 Gram Vinyl Pre-Order

Besides releasing two classic longplayers and many more singles (including the smash, “Gloria”), touring/behaving badly all across America and appearing on TV shows like ‘Upbeat’ and ‘Where The Action Is’, the Shadows of Knight also ruled at suburban Chicago’s hands-down hippest teen club, The Cellar. Over the decades, their Cellar performances have become the stuff of legend. Miraculously, two reels of tape of the Shadows of Knight live on stage at the Cellar (in 1966!) were eventually uncovered by Sundazed. As early as their ‘Gloria’ album debut in spring ’66, the Shadows of Knight had separated themselves from the garage band pack with a heavily Chicago Blues-based, wildly rocking repertoire. Their trademark sound is on full display in this attitude-drenched, anarchic live recording from late in that exalted year. For this expanded edition, the original sets and correct song sequence have been faithfully restored. And to top that, additional and until now completely unheard bonus material is rescued from those old reels. Specifically, added to an already scorching set are previously-unheard takes of “Peepin’ and Hidin’” (sung by blues legend Joe Kelley), “Willie Jean” (with a vocal from drummer Tom Schiffour) and “Any Way That You Want Me”. Equally important, the packaging now equals the musical contents thanks to an all-new, eye grabbing sleeve highlighted by John Hora’s amazing original photography from ’66. Unlike their comparatively harnessed studio recordings, the Shadows of Knight are presented here raw ‘n’ alive, sloppy bordering on brilliant and with all the subtlety of a bulldozer. Would you want ‘em any other way?

This item is available for pre-order and will ship on, or before, the street date of January 27, 2015.

Various Artists - KING STRINGS  180 Gram Vinyl Pre-Order

JOHN LEE HOOKER, ALBERT KING, JOHNNY “GUITAR” WATSON and more on 180 Gram Vinyl Pressed at R.T.I. Selected from the crown jewels of the rich King-Federal-DeLuxe discography, King Strings features rocking, socking guitar instrumentals from the Cincinnati-based family of labels cut between 1949 and 1962, programmed for power! Fashioned as a vintage King LP from the era and containing a killer line-up of the biggest talents the stable of labels offered, this is the historic various artists collection that should have been issued circa 1962. King was central to the underlying creative flow in R&B during the era, and the recordings here show the depth of style and synergy that the label routinely captured on vinyl. From the proto-funk groove of Hooker’s “Stomp Boogie” (under the pseudonym Texas Slim) to two cuts of Baker magic captured in Paris over a decade later, and including key cuts from Freddy King, Albert King, Johnny “Guitar” Watson and many others in between, you’ll individually hear a variety of instruments, tones and techniques, but together the clear, common artistry of the players’ sovereign ability, sequenced like a long, climactic solo—this is the sound of some of the most heralded talent of the guitar generation! Includes a rich, detailed insert with rare photos and extensive liner notes by Colin Escott. Join six-string soul royalty for a showcase from the company that called itself The King of Them All!

This item is available for pre-order and will ship on, or before, the street date of January 27, 2015.

CHICKEN SHACK - IN THE CAN

Chicken Shack's In The Can, a masterful compilation of their finest songs, includes tracks culled from their albums 40 Blue Fingers… 100 Ton Chicken and OK Ken?  These tracks include tunes such as "Webbed Feet", "San Ho-Zay", "See See Baby", "A Woman Is The Blues", "Sad Clown" and of course their best known hit "I'd Rather Go Blind".

Formed in 1964, they settled on the name Chicken Shack a year later, inspired by Jimmy Smith's album Back At The Chicken Shack and blues staples such as "Chicken Shack Boogie". In the first couple of years the band particularly honed their skills by playing lots of gigs at the legendary Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany. The band featured Christine Perfect, who left once she married Fleetwood Mac's John McVie. By the early '70ies, most other band members had also moved on to other bands - such as Traffic, Savoy Brown and Jethro Tull. To this day, frontman Stan Webb remains the band's only constant member.

Untouchables debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 434,000 copies sold during its first week. The album received positive reviews from music critics and is often regarded as one of Korn's best works. Untouchables was certified platinum on July 11, 2002, and sold over 5 million copies worldwide.

THE KALEIDOSCOPE - SIDE TRIPS

The Kaleidoscope was an American psychedelic folk and ethnic band who recorded 4 albums and several singles for Epic Records between 1966 and 1970. They were one of the progenitors of World Music. Side Trips was the band's 1967 debut album. On the album each member played many instruments; for example, David Lindley played guitar, banjo, fiddle, and mandolin, and Solomon Feldthouse played saz, bouzouki, dobro, vina, oud, doumbek, dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, and vocals.

The group was founded on democratic principles – there was no "leader". The first single, "Please" was released in December 1966. It was produced by Barry Friedman (later known as Frazier Mohawk), as was their first album Side Trips, released in June 1967. The album showcased The Kaleidoscope's musical diversity and studio experimentation. It included Feldthouse's "Egyptian Gardens", Darrow's "Keep Your Mind Open", and versions of Cab Calloway's "Minnie the Moocher" and Dock Boggs' "Oh Death".

Nonesuch Punch Brothers’ T Bone Burnett–Produced "The Phosphorescent Blues" Vinyl Due On January 27

Nonesuch releases Punch Brothers’ T Bone Burnett–produced The Phosphorescent Blues on January 27, 2015, with the vinyl to follow on February 24. The vinyl edition includes four additional tracks not available elsewhere. The Phosphorescent Blues is available to pre-order with instant downloads of the album tracks "I Blew It Off" and "Julep."

After working with Burnett numerous times—most recently on the soundtrack for the Joel and Ethan Coen film Inside Llewyn Davis and the related Town Hall/Showtime concert Another Day, Another Time—Punch Brothers decided to join forces with the multiple Grammy Award–winning producer for their new record. Last summer, the band and Burnett spent a month at Hollywood’s Ocean Way Recording laying down the songs that guitarist Chris Eldridge, bassist Paul Kowert, banjo player Noam Pikelny, mandolinist and lead singer Chris Thile, and fiddler Gabe Witcher had written during several writing “retreats” last winter and spring.

Thile explains one of the ways the music on The Phosphorescent Blues reflects the band’s view of modern life: “We often go to bars after shows or writing sessions, to be around other people for a little while. And I’d see people just like me on their phones, telling people they wish they were there, texting people who really are there. Then a song would come on that somebody likes and then they see that someone else does too and maybe they both sing it together and that moment is spiritual, some shared experience, and they are interacting in the flesh, with their fellow man. And that’s communion. Many of the songs on this record dive into that: how do we cultivate beautiful, three-dimensional experiences with our fellow man in this day and age?”

Shortly before the sessions began, Thile and Witcher met with Burnett and discovered the producer had the very same things on his mind. In fact, he’d just given a commencement address at the University of Southern California on the subject of technology and human interaction. Witcher remembers, “Thile and I looked at each and said, ‘This is unbelievable. It’s exactly what we are writing about.’ So this was a perfect, serendipitous union.”

Various Artists - Decadubs 5 EP

Capping off the Hyperdub 10 compilation series in fine style, Decadubs 5 features among other things a never-before-released track from the elusive Burial. 'Lambeth' is a future South London anthem, picking up where 'Wolf Cub' left off, the track finds Burial in a contemplative mood, proper late night backseat bus window illuminated by the stars gear, woodblock percussion rolling along while synths sparkle through the cold night air. The rest of the double pack does not disappoint; the first 12" features the late night jamz of Cooly G's 'Love Again' and the Kode9 epic 'Oh' while the second 12" features future UKF anthem 'Vice Versa' from Funkystepz. Cooly G's 'Him Da Biz', Hyperdub staple DVA's creeping 'Monophonic Nightmare' and a killer reworking of Martyn's 'Mega Drive Generation' by Dorian Concept. All in all a great end to a killer series of releases celebrating ten years at the top, here's to ten more!

IMPALERS - Psychedelic Snutskallar

Well damn, here we are again. Another LP from Austin, TX boss hogs IMPALERS. In the modern climate of music, nothing sticks. Every week there is a new cool 7" or tape making the rounds on social media, littering your feed with bandcamp demos and instragamed cassette j cards. Its hard to keep up, yet an amazing time of stimulation and excitement for punks worldwide. But in the midst of all this madness, its nice to know you can count on Impalers every year to release the best record of the year. Unless you live under a rock, you probably already know what to expect from these guys. Their LP last year topped year end charts high and low. And Psychedelic Snutskallar does damage in all the same places. Peerless d-beat, a work of art. Completely unhinged yet tight and in the pocket. This time they have upped the ante with a monstrous opening track that takes up the whole A side at a never boring 11-minute length. Tripped out artwork and packing concept by SAM RYSER (Crazy Spirit, Dawn of Humans, Dripper World) and reworked material from short lived side project SICK PLOT make this 12" EP a no brainer. 1,000 copies pressed.

The Killjoys 'Naive' Vinyl Reissue

Before Kevin Rowland discovered the joys of making menswear and even before he launched Dexys Midnight Runners he was the lead singer in this great punk band from the Midlands. Originally called Lucy & The Lovers and more jazz orientated, Kevin caught the first of a series of wind of changes and hitched a ride on punk with his girlfriend Heather on backing vocals and the gorgeous Gem on bass whom he exploited to the full even encouraging her wearing of sexually alluring clothing!!!! One single Johnny Won’t Get To Heaven / Naive Records 1977). Raw Classic amphetamine punk. Another great track ‘At Night’ on the Raw Deal compilation album. One other known song – Recognition – floating around on an album ‘Naive’ on Damaged Goods released in 1991. They were supposed to be making tapes for an album but they split before anything happened and a supposed deal with Bronze was scuppered by Mr Rowland.

Around mid 77 they lost Heather and Joe 90 (on Kevin’s insistence probably) and acquired a new drummer, Bob Peach, and guitarist Keith Rimell and became virtually a different band as Mr Rowland again sought to jump ship. If you get a chance check out the two John Peel radio sessions they did to hear the difference. Great footage of them performing ‘Johnny’ and ‘At Night’ on the Punk In London video.

Forget Gaye Advert, Gem was a star on bass! Bless them all. Gem / Gil was in fact short for Ghislaine! She formed Alternating before going on to join Girlschool replacing Enid on bass after being recommended to the band by Lemmy! Sadly rumour has it that Heather died. And lastly from his majesty Mr Rowland himself these words from Mojo October 2001. “There was no doubt in my mind that I was at least as passionate and angry and as from the street as any punk rock singer you could name. But it was wrong for me to try to be part of someone else’s thing.”

*Limited repressing of a long lost Killjoys mini album which originally came out on DG back in 1991, This time it’s on red, white and blue vinyl!

Ask Mr. Music by Jerry Osborne

FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 1, 2014

DEAR JERRY: Despite several visits to our county library, I confess to be being stumped by this trivia question:

What song has been recorded thousands of times, by hundreds of different artists, yet has only been a pop hit twice, and less than two years apart? Each version was a Top 15 hit.

If you have the answer I gladly admit I threw in the towel and called on a higher power.
—Clair Lewis, Jacksonville, Fla.

DEAR CLAIR: What we have here is an amazing slice of music trivia, and I mean that in more ways than one.

The only song perfectly matching the clues you provide is "Amazing Grace."

This story begins in the 18th century, with John Newton and William Cowper, two British preachers in Olney, Buckinghamshire, who regularly wrote poems and hymns for use in their services.

One such composition, eventually published in 1779, evolved into what is known as "Amazing Grace," though it would be another 60 years before the familiar melody long associated with Newton's words was added.

Most estimates of the number of distinct "Amazing Grace" recordings range from 6,500 to 7,000, but, as you know, only two made the singles charts at all, much less the Top 15.

First came an a cappella version by Judy Collins, from a live concert and backed by a chorus of her friends and acquaintances (Elektra 45709). Issued in December 1970, "Amazing Grace" ranks as Judy's third biggest hit ever, after "Both Sides Now" and "Send in the Clowns."

Just 17 months after Judy's recording faded away, an atypical instrumental of "Amazing Grace" started heading up the charts.

This oddity, a UK import by the Pipes and Drums and the Military Band of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, featured a bagpipe, an instrument very rarely heard on hit records.

Understandingly, the Brits loved this recording, and it held the No. 1 position on their New Musical Express chart for four weeks in the spring of 1972.

DEAR JERRY: One of the oldies channels played "Venus" by Frankie Avalon, then followed it with "Venus" by Shocking Blue. They then made a comment about how unusual it is to have two different songs, with the same title, both reaching No. 1.

Other than "Venus," are there many other songs that accomplished this?
—Randall Woodside, Dover, Del.

DEAR RANDALL: Let's find out, as my research on your behalf begins in 1949, the first year of the 45 rpm single, "the little record with the big hole."

From then to now I spotted 14 occasions (including "Venus") where two completely different songs, that share the same title, topped the U.S. singles charts — plus one ("My Love") that did it three times:

"All 4 Love" Color Me Badd (1992)
"All for Love" Bryan Adams-Rod Stewart-Sting (1994)
"Best of My Love" Eagles (1975)
"Best of My Love" Emotions (1977)
"Big Girls Don't Cry" 4 Seasons (1962)
"Big Girls Don't Cry" Fergie (2007)
"Butterfly" Charlie Gracie/Andy Williams (1957)
"Butterfly" Crazy Town (2001)
"Family Affair" Sly and the Family Stone (1971)
"Family Affair" Mary J. Blige (2001)
"Good Vibrations" Beach Boys (1966)
"Good Vibrations" Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch (1991)
"Honey" Bobby Goldsboro (1968)
"Honey" Mariah Carey (1997)
"I'm Sorry" Brenda Lee (1960)
"I'm Sorry" John Denver (1975)
"Jump" Van Halen (1984)
"Jump" Kris Kross (1992)
"My Love" Petula Clark (1966)
"My Love" Paul McCartney and Wings (1973)
"My Love" Justin Timberlake Featuring T.I. (2006)
"One More Try" George Michael (1988)
"One More Try" Timmy -T- (1991)
"Someday" Vaughn Monroe (1949)
"Someday" Mariah Carey (1991)
"Take a Bow" Madonna (1995)
"Take a Bow" Rihanna (2008)
"Venus" Frankie Avalon (1959)
"Venus" Shocking Blue (1970)
"Wild, Wild West" Escape Club (1988)
"Wild Wild West" Will Smith with Dru Hill and Kool Mo Dee (1999)

IZ ZAT SO? Since the above topic required a careful examination of each No. 1 hit, I noticed how few of those titles are one word, having no more than three letters (parenthetical subtitles excluded).

During the four-decade vinyl era, only seven titles qualify. Of those, three are from the same year, and two are by the same person.

Listed chronologically:
"If" Perry Como (1951)
"Sin" Eddy Howard (1951)
"Cry" Johnny Ray and the Four Lads (1951)
"Why" Frankie Avalon (1959)
"War" Edwin Starr (1970)
"Ben" Michael Jackson (1972)
"Bad" Michael Jackson (1987)

NEW COOL COLLECTIVE - ELECTRIC MONKEY SESSIONS

New Cool Collective's fifteenth album Electric Monkey Sessions refers to the sound studio in Amsterdam where the recordings were made. They have drawn inspiration from Senegalese Orchestra Baobab, as well as psychedelic cumbia, Cape Town, Italian cinema and many major jazz heroes. Electric Monkey Sessions also features two unique tracks recorded at a beach-side studio in Dakar with local musicians the band met on one of their many international adventures.

In 1993 saxophonist Benjamin Herman began experimenting with DJ Graham B at nightclub Soul Kitchen in Amsterdam. The combination of playing live to spinning records was still unusual then. But the results worked and ended up evolving into the eight-piece New Cool Collective. The band is now impossible to think away from the nightclubs and festivals of the Netherlands and beyond.

The line-up of New Cool Collective is made up of saxophonist Benjamin Herman, drummer Joost Kroon, percussionists Frank van Dok and Jos de Haas, pianist Willem Friede, bassist Leslie Lopez, guitarist Rory Ronde and trumpet-player David Rockefeller.

New Cool Collective's fifteenth album Electric Monkey Sessions refers to the sound studio in Amsterdam where the recordings were made. A new studio for the band, and a new style of recording, which means a whole new vibe compared to previous albums. New Cool Collective has drawn inspiration from Senegalese Orchestra Baobab, as well as psychedelic cumbia, Cape Town, Italian cinema and many major jazz heroes. Electric Monkey Sessions also features two unique tracks recorded at a beach-side studio in Dakar with local musicians the band met on one of their many international adventures.
This autumn New Cool Collective are on tour. The eight-piece band is well known for the total commitment with which they convey the energy and emotion of their albums live on stage.

RODRIGUEZ - COLD FACT

Cold Fact is the debut album from American singer-songwriter Rodriguez. It was released in the United States on the Sussex label in March 1970. The album sold very poorly in the United States (Rodriguez was himself an unknown in the U.S.), but managed to sell well in both South Africa and Australia, with Rodriguez touring Australia in 1979.

In 1971 the album was released in South Africa by A&M Records, who were by then the owners of the Sussex label. In 1976, several thousand copies of Cold Fact were found in a New York warehouse and sold out in Australia in a few weeks. It went to No. 23 on the Australian album charts, staying on the charts for 55 weeks. In 1998 Cold Fact was awarded a platinum disc in South Africa, and was five-times platinum in Australia. Rodriguez has since toured South Africa and Australia with much success, but remained relatively unknown in his native country of the USA. This began to change after the reissues of his albums in the U.S. by Light in the Attic Records in 2008 and 2009, and even further in 2012 with the Academy Award winning documentary film Searching for Sugar Man, which soon led to appearances on major American television shows like 60 Minutes and The Late Show with David Letterman.

Cold Fact was featured as a "Buried Treasure" in the August 2002 issue of Mojo.

Trip Shakespeare's 'Are You Shakespearienced?' Vinyl Reissue

Expanded reissue of Minneapolis icons’ sophomore release!

After the release of Trip Shakepeare’s debut—Applehead Man—band leader Matt Wilson’s brother, Grammy® winning songwriter Dan Wilson joined the fold as a permanent member. The original trio became a quartet and self-released Are You Shakespearienced? in 1988.

Omnivore is pleased to continue following the legacy of Trip Shakespeare with a reissue of the band’s 2nd album—which now includes 9 bonus tracks, 8 previously unissued.

Are You Shakespearienced? (co-produced by the band’s John Munson) will be released in a digipak with liner notes from Jon Niccum (author of The Worst Gig), and previously unseen photos. The LP (first pressing on translucent green vinyl, with black to follow) contains the original nine tracks, liners and photos, and a download card for the entire CD program.

Are You Shakespearienced? would find Trip Shakespeare not only being courted by the major labels, but eventually signing to A&M Records. Later, John Munson and Dan Wilson would go on to form Semisonic, but now is the time to get Shakespearienced!

Release date: 12/15/2014

Old 97's 'Hitchhike To Rhome' Vinyl Reissue

Old 97's classic debut gets an expanded 20th Anniversary reissue!

The Old 97’s burst onto the alt-country scene in 1994 with their debut, Hitchhike To Rhome. To celebrate this anniversary, Omnivore Recordings is proud to reissue Hitchhike with an expanded release on 2-CD, Digital, and—for the first time—on double LP!

When band member, and set co-producer, Ken Bethea was revisiting the original tapes for this reissue, he discovered a whopping eight extra tracks cut at the album sessions—many of which the band hadn’t even remembered recording. It seemed the perfect time and place to bring those previously unissued songs to light and add the tracks from their first four song demo cassette to round out the early picture of the 97’s.

The 2-CD version of Hitchhike To Rhome contains the original album, coupled with a 2nd disc of those 12 rare and unreleased tracks, many mixed from the original multi-tracks for the first time by longtime Old 97’s engineer Rip Rowan. The double LP (limited edition first pressing on translucent orange vinyl) features the LP on 3 sides with 6 of the recently unearthed tracks on the 4th. The download card included gives the buyer the complete 2-CD program. Both formats include rare photos, memorabilia and notes from Bethea.

From the Too Far To Care reissue complete with demos, (also available separately on vinyl as They Made A Monster), to their sessions with the great Waylon Jennings, Omnivore continues to add to the Old 97’s legacy with this integral, early part of their history and catalog.

Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown by The Skull Defekts

When the Skull Defekts entered the studio in the Spring of 2013 with nothing more than a collection of loosely organized riffs, they set out to record their most extreme, challenging rock record. Much to the band’s surprise, what emerged were their most incessantly listenable, approachable songs to date. The Defekts merge the coarse vitality of punk with the ritualism of folk dances to create music that is addictive, wondrously discordant, and rooted in a belief in the overwhelming power of pure sound. Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown is the Swedish group’s third release as a quintet, with the legendary Daniel Higgs joining Joachim Nordwall and Daniel Fagerstroem on vocal duties and acting as the group’s spiritual ringleader. The Defekts have long acted as the backbone of the Swedish experimental underground, but since their 2011 breakthrough Peer Amid, the group has emerged at the vanguard of a new wave of radical Scandinavian rock music alongside Iceage and the Posh Isolation label.

From the opening patter of “Pattern of Thoughts” to the propulsive chants of “Cyborganization,” Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown feeds on the tension between lean and bright song production and the hefty, sometimes surreal sounds produced by Nordwall and Fagerstroem’s guitars. Daniel Higgs’ spontaneous, metaphoric poetry is as perplexing as ever, but it is delivered with a clarity not heard since his days fronting Lungfish. Album centerpiece “The Known Unknown” is centered around a driving riff, with Nordwall turning the song’s title into a mantra as intense as it is transcendent. Throughout, the group anchors their riffs with exotic sustained chords, adding a distinctly Carnatic flavor.

LP version includes an artworked inner sleeve and free download card. High gloss UV printing on LP jacket.

EXCLUSIVE LP MAILORDER EDITION AVAILABLE : 500 copies are pressed on gold vinyl and will only be sold on Thrill Jockey's website and the band's merch table.

Tilts - Cuatro Hombres - PINK CLEAR COLORED VINYL 12''

The St. Louis quartet TILTS return with 10 brand new tracks of killer rock and roll on Cuatro Hombres, with just enough spice to keep things nice! Guitarist/vocalist Andrew Elstner splits his time between TILTS and TORCHE and can sing like a mofo! These soaring vocals land atop catchy songs both heavy and melodic.

Once again, the band's drummer Ken McCray self-recorded this at Marmadook Studios, then had Richmond, Virginia engineer Ian Whalen (RAH BRAHS, TOMBS, LAMB OF GOD) mix the beast. James Plotkin (ISIS, CAVE IN, THOU) carefully mastered the final banger specifically for vinyl, and separately for the included high-quality digital download.

Rounded out by bassist Shawn Hart and guitar player Andy White, TILTS triumphantly deliver a seriously infectious sophomore album with 10 songs of "ALL KILLER NO FILLER" rock music! Like the debut LP, Tom Huck's brilliant woodcut artwork adorns the sleeve, with righteous pink/clear color vinyl inside.

The songs are heavy, tuneful, have damn nice actual SINGING and tight spice added in all the right places. Guitarist/vocalist Andrew Elstner splits his time between TILTS and TORCHE (and used to play in RIDDLE OF STEEL) so you know he can shred. The band self-recorded this album in drummer Ken McCray’s home studio, then had Richmond, Virginia engineer Ian Whalen (RAH BRAHS, TOMBS, LAMB OF GOD) re-mix the whole shebang. James Plotkin (ISIS, CAVE IN, THOU) carefully mastered the beaut (for vinyl-specifically and separately for the digital download included) and she polishes up right nice! Rounded out by bassist Shawn Hart and guitar player Andy White, TILTS have delivered a seriously infectious debut album with 12 rockin "ALL KILLER NO FILLER" tracks!

Death - Spiritual Healing Reissue LP *Picture Disc*

Death’s landmark ‘Spiritual Healing’ record is nothing short of genre-defining.  Originally released in 1990, Spiritual Healing marked a new turn in the Death discography, one which ushered in cleaner production, a new level of boundary pushing musicianship and songwriting skills that were previously unimaginable from a metal band.  Spiritual Healing sets the standard for riffs, insane time changes and of course mainman Chuck Schuldiner’s masterful guitar solos.
