In the New York area??
Vinyl collectors are a rare breed. They know about limited edition pressings of records most people have never heard of and they'd travel to the end of the earth for the chance to dig for wax. In keeping with the recent resurgence in vinyl, the first Superstar DJ Record Fair will take place on Sunday at the Brooklyn Flea at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Ft. Greene. And yes, the event will feature a host of superstar DJs, including DJ/Rupture, DJ Rehka, McBoing Boing, some of the the folks from Def Jux Records and Breakbeat Science’s DB and Dara. After the DJs play their half-hour set (which will consist of platters from their personal record collections), shoppers will be able to buy the record straight off the turntable. How's the for instant gratification? The fair is run by scenester/journalist Eric Demby, who is expecting several thousand visitors. Says Demby, "It's 100% rain or shine, and we rented a huge tent for all the record vendors."
