Vinyl Record News & Music Notes

from our friends at TheBurningShed

Opeth - Morningrise (double coloured vinyl collectors edition preorder)

With its combination of Black Metal vocals and guitar parts with lighter progressive and acoustic elements, Morningrise, from 1996, was one of the first releases to showcase Opeth's signature style.

This is the limited Record Store Day split coloured 180gm double vinyl version. Pressed on half solid white/ half solid grey, the album comes in a gatefold sleeve.

Pre-order now for 27th May shipping.

Yes - The Ladder (double vinyl)

Released in 1999, The Ladder was the 18th studio album by Yes.

Long-time personnel Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Alan White, and Steve Howe were joined by multi-instrumentalist Billy Sherwood, keyboardist Igor Khoroshev and Canadian producer Bruce Fairburn (who died towards the end of the making of the album) for a release that distinctively combined the band's Progressive roots with World Music influences and a contemporary production sheen.

This is the limited and numbered Eagle Records double vinyl version presented in a striking Roger Dean gatefold sleeve.   We have a limited stock.

MarillionRadiation 2013 (Double Vinyl preorder)

Rush - ABC 1974 (double coloured vinyl collectors edition preorder)

The limited Record Store Day split coloured vinyl version of Rush's live radio performance, ABC 1974.

Recorded during the first ever Rush tour of the US in 1974, the tour was also the first with the band's enigmatic drummer/lyricist, Neil Peart.

A 180gm split coloured vinyl release, with gatefold packaging, featuring tracks from the band's debut and the then unreleased Fly By Night, as well as three previously unavailable pieces (Fancy Dancer, Garden Road and a cover of Larry Williams' Bad Boy).

A fascinating glimpse into the early work of a Progressive institution.
