Vinyl Sales Up In 2013

Billboard just reported that vinyl sales are up for the sixth year in a row, with a total of 6.1 million vinyl LPs sold in 2013. That's a 33% increase from 2012.  The top-selling vinyl album of the year was Daft Punk's 'Random Access Memories,' which sold 49,000 copies. Vampire Weekend's 'Modern Vampires of the City' comes in at #2 with 34,000 copies sold.  What's truly amazing is that most of the records came from independent record stores; a whopping 64% to be exact.  So keep on visiting your local record stores and the vinyl record revival will continues to garner more steam into 2014 and beyond!

Mothership (Very Best Of) by Led Zeppelin

Mothership is a compilation album by English rock group Led Zeppelin, released by Atlantic Records and Rhino Entertainment on 12 November 2007 in the United Kingdom, and 13 November 2007 in the United States. It was released on the same day that Led Zeppelin's entire catalog became available in digital stores, including the iTunes Store. The cover (designed by artist Shepard Fairey) is a graphical interpretation of the Beresford Hotel, Glasgow, Scotland.

The songs included were chosen by the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, and represent eight of the band's nine studio albums.

The album debuted at #4 in the UK Albums Chart, with 58,000 units sold, and debuted at #1 on the Official New Zealand Albums Chart and stayed there for several weeks. The album also debuted at #7 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling about 136,000 copies in its first week. The album has sold almost 1,7 million + copies in the U.S and 4 million + copies worldwide, it has been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA.
