Ike & Tina Turner – Feel Good – United Artists /Pure Pleasure Records – vinyl

The Grammy-winning Ike & Tina Show in an audiophile reissue of one of their best recordings.

Ike & Tina Turner – Feel Good – United Artists (1972)/Pure Pleasure Records (2012) PPAN UAS5598 180-gram audiophile stereo vinyl, 30:16 ****1/2:

(Tina Turner – vocals; Ike Turner – band leader; featuring the Rhythm Kings and The Ikettes)

The Ike & Tina Turner Revue (formerly The Kings Of Rhythm) became one of the most successful r & b acts in the sixties. The dynamics changed with the addition of Ann Bullock. Changing her name to Tina Turner, The Ike & Tina Turner Revue became a crossover act. They began to chart with hits like "A Fool In Love", "It’s Gonna Work Out Fine" and "I Idolize You". Then in 1966 "River Deep, Mountain High" (which surprisingly never garnered commercial success) introduced the band to a wider audience. But it was the frenetic live performances that created a sensation. More importantly, their covers of rock standards established a commercial viability, including opening for The Rolling Stones. Then in 1970, a mesmerizing version of "Proud Mary" earned a Grammy and made them stars. The Ike & Tina Turner Revue were together for a number of years. and what a live show they put on! Tina Turner (and this story is documented in many ways) later began a very successful solo career. Their influence on rock music was cemented with induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1991.

Pure Pleasure Records has re-mastered the 1972 album Feel Good, and it is revelatory. Barely thirty minutes, the ten concisely arranged songs is a living testament to one of the greatest soul rocking ensembles to ever record. Side 1 opens with "Chopper" (one of nine original Tina Turner compositions), as a jerky, funky guitar line backs the nasty, sexually overt vocals of Ms. Turner. The musical vibe has evolved to a seventies urban sound. The arrangements are funk-driven, and the instrumentation fits the tunes. "Kay Got Laid (Joe Got Paid)" explores the gritty narrative aided by a thundering bass, electric guitar runs and the backup singing by The Ikettes. No one understands the translation of R & B to rock better than Ike Turner. With a front singer as powerful as Tina Turner, they just turn her loose on gospel-infused jams like "Feel Good". A barrelhouse piano adds to the momentum of non-stop hot licks.

Tina stretches her wings as a gritty songwriter on the soulful "I Like It" (with Memphis Stax-like horn flourishes and organ) and her homage to sixties dance music ("If You Can Hully Gully/I Can Hully Gully Too"). Regardless of the arrangements, she is capable of rocketing into overdrive at any time. Demonstrating a socio-political context, "Black Coffee" is a low-down, visceral indictment of the system. Exploring the narratives of fellow composers like Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes and James Brown, Turner frames her independence as she states, …my skin is brown…my mind is black…". The group’s cover of The Beatles, "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" picks up on the inherent rhythms, but pumps up the soul. When they revert to rock and soul ("You Better Think Of Something", "Bolic"), the results are more compelling.

Pure Pleasure has captured the vibrant raw energy of Ike & Tina Turner. The overall sound is edgy and has a live "feel". There is no attempt to smooth out Turner’s vocals. The dense, brawny mix fits the instrumentation. This is the kind of music that comes alive on vinyl!

TrackList:

Side 1: Chopper; Kay Got Laid (Joe Got Paid); Feel Good; I Like It; If You Can Hully Gully (I Can Hully Gully Too)

Side 2: Black Coffee; She Came In Through The Bathroom Window; If I Knew then (What I Know Now); You Better Think Of Something; Bolic

Having spent several years lauded as one of the frontrunners in their genre, in 2012 Whitechapel stand as a defining force in contemporary heavy music. Building dramatically on the trademarked bludgeon of their first three releases, with Whitechapel the Tennessean sextet have inarguably delivered their most intense, dynamic, and downright hostile record to date.

Ask Mr. Music by Jerry Osborne

FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 12, 2012

DEAR JERRY: When Andy Williams died (Sept. 25), the obituaries mostly focused on his version of "Moon River."

My memories of Andy Williams begin years before "Moon River, " with "Butterfly," "Are You Sincere," "Lonely Street," and many others.

There were only two hit singles of "Moon River," by Jerry Butler and Henry Mancini, and it was not issued as a single by Andy until a couple of years later.

I know this because I bought mine circa-1964, backed with "Days of Wine and Roses," on Columbia's Hall of Fame label (13-33049). I first assumed this, like others in the Hall of Fame series, to be a reissue of earlier singles, but it was not.

Regardless, I was familiar with Andy's "Moon River," because he sang it at the Academy Awards show, and it is the title track of his "Moon River & Other Great Movie Themes" LP. In later became the theme of the Andy Williams TV Show.

Was this enough to connect him so greatly to a song that never was a hit for him?
—Mike Tiefenbacher, Menomonie, Wis.

DEAR MIKE: For most big-name recording artists with a signature song, it is one of their best-selling singles.

Some familiar examples are: Tony Bennett ("I Left My Heart in San Francisco"); Dean Martin ("Everybody Loves Somebody"); Judy Garland ("Over the Rainbow"); Bobby Darin ("Mack the Knife"); Loretta Lynn ("Coal Miner's Daughter"); Bob Hope ("Thanks for the Memory"); Barbra Streisand ("People"); Glenn Miller ("Moonlight Serenade"); and the Rolling Stones ("Satisfaction").

For "Moon River," to become Andy's signature song required some unpredictable events to fall into place, beginning before he even recorded it.

Henry Mancini (music) and Johnny Mercer (words) teamed to create "Moon River" in 1961 for the film, "Breakfast at Tiffany's."

In March, 1962, when the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced "Moon River" as a nominee in the Best Music, Original Song category, Andy Williams was picked to sing it live on the Academy Awards show.

The track used for the original single, by Henry Mancini, His Orchestra and Chorus, was handed over from Paramount Pictures to RCA in the fall of 1960. Nearly a year later (early Sept. 1961), their record came out (RCA Victor 47-7916).

Meanwhile, Chicago's Vee-Jay label quickly covered the tune with their top artist at the time, Jerry Butler, whose waxing (VJ-390) followed Mancini's by about three weeks.

For five months, Oct. 1961 through Feb. 1962, one or both of these two hit versions were on the charts. Both peaked at No. 11 on Billboard, but not at the same time.

Still, Andy Williams, with no established "Moon River" connection, sang it at the Awards show to a nationally televised (ABC-TV) audience, a performance that changed his life forever — especially since "Moon River" won, and Mancini and Mercer took home Oscars.

That same week, Columbia tied-in with an ad in the trades announcing Andy's next album, due out the last week of April. It reads:

Thanks Mr. Mancini! Thanks Mr. Mercer!
For your great song "Moon River"
Now hear it sung in "Award Winning" style by Andy Williams in his great new album "Moon River & Other Great Movie Themes"

Thanks to the Awards show, Columbia had pre-release sales in excess of 40,000 units.

Andy's first collection of motion picture music hit the charts May 12, remained there for over 14 years, and earned him the first of 17 Gold Records for album sales.

In Sept. 1962, NBC-TV added The Andy Williams Show to their prime-time schedule, and it ran until July 1971.

Though the nights and broadcast times changed, the show's theme did not. It was always "Moon River."

As for the Columbia's Hall of Fame single, it came out in either late 1963 or early '64.

Last summer, in what would be his last studio recording, Andy joined Deana Martin for a 2011 version of "White Christmas."

Deana was so pleased with their duet, she even titled the album "White Christmas," then issued it on vinyl (Big Fish 1007) as well as CD.

IZ ZAT SO? When Andy Williams, and four other stars, took the stage April 9, 1962, at the 34th annual Academy Awards presentation, it marked the first time the nominated songs were sung live. In years past, the tunes were lip-synched to recorded music tracks by the performers.

Sharing the spotlight on this momentous occasion were Ann-Margret ("Bachelor in Paradise"); Gene Pitney ("Town Without Pity"); Johnny Mathis ("Love Theme from El Cid"); and Gogi Grant ("Pocket Full of Miracles").

Had Henry Mancini not won for "Moon River," he had a backup nominee in "Bachelor in Paradise," co-written by he and Mack David.

Black Sabbath Working Hard In The Studio

Black Sabbath are back at work on the album they began last year.  Over the weekend, Sharon Osbourne appeared on Merrick & The Highway Patrol, a show on Australian rock station Triple M. When asked about the status of Sabbath, Sharon said the band was in the studio right now with producer Rick Rubin.  Ozzy Osbourne told NME.com the band had written about 15 songs, and added that "next year, 2013, is a good clue to what we're going to call the album." The current Black Sabbath line-up includes Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi.

Vinyl Record News & Music Notes

Official Press-Release:

Superdrag's 'Regretfully Yours' to Receive Vinyl Reissue

SideOneDummy Records just announced the vinyl re-issue of Superdrag’s 1996 debut 'Regretfully Yours' on December 11, 2012, marking the first time the album has been made available on vinyl.

'Regretfully Yours,' included the hit single “Sucked Out”, which peaked at #17 on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart.  The larynx-shredding chorus (along with a Buzz Bin video) helped plant the band’s flag on a national level.  “Some of the dudes went and watched Iggy Pop play a secret show at Coney Island High that night,” recalls guitarist and vocalist John Davis, “but I stayed behind and coughed up blood until we got that vocal right.”

On the LP, Superdrag combine noisy guitar rock with power pop tunefulness, arriving at a place somewhere between Hüsker Dü  and Teenage Fanclub.  Although 'Regretfully Yours' never attained the sales figures of some of the band’s 90's peers, the album has long been lauded by critics and fans alike as a lost classic.  “The whole thing was done really quickly, especially by today’s standards,” Davis remembers.”The bulk of the album was made in 7 days.” The band played more than 250 shows in support of the record, touring alongside the likes of Nada Surf, Weezer and Green Day.

In 1996, Jon Wiederhorn of Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone wrote, “Regretfully Yours is an emotional excursion fueled with sugary vocals, dynamic arrangements, and psychedelic guitar flourishes. Refreshing and irresistible.”  16 years later, those words still ring true.

SideOneDummy Records is initially pressing 1,000 copies of Regretfully Yours. The LP will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl.  A pre-order of the LP is available from the SideOneDummy web store here.

Death's Spiritual Healing Deluxe Reissue To See Release

The next chapter in Relapse's Death reissue campaign is the landmark, genre-defining album Spiritual Healing.  Originally released in 1990, Spiritual Healing marked a new turn in the Death discography, one which ushered in cleaner production, a new level of boundary pushing musicianship and songwriting skills that were previously unimaginable from a metal band.  Spiritual Healing sets the standard for riffs, insane time changes and of course mainman Chuck Schuldiner’s masterful guitar solos.  Now reissued as a double CD housed in super deluxe packaging featuring brand new liner notes from Death players James Murphy and Terry Butler, Chuck’s sister Beth Schuldiner and Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen, Disc 1 features a completely new remaster of the original album and Disc 2 contains 16 previously unreleased rehearsal, outtakes and studio instrumentals.

On October 11, 1971,  John Lennon's "Imagine" was released in the US, where it peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.  The song earned a Grammy Hall of Fame Award and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.  In 2005, Rolling Stone ranked it number 3 in their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time." "Imagine" has been recorded by several notable artists, including Joan Baez, Blues Traveler, Chris Cornell, Madonna and Lady Gaga.

Lennon commented on the song's meaning:

"It is the concept of positive prayer ... If you can imagine a world at peace, with no denominations of religion—not without religion but without this my-God-is-bigger-than-your-God thing—then it can be true ... The World Church called me once and asked, "Can we use the lyrics to 'Imagine' and just change it to 'Imagine one religion'? That showed [me] they didn't understand it at all. It would defeat the whole purpose of the song, the whole idea."

B.B. King, Aeromsith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Elvis Costello and Others Nominees For 2013 Songwriters Hall of Fame

B.B. King,  Aeromsith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Buffett, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart (ex-Eurythmics bandmates) and Ray Davies (Kinks) are among the nominees for the 2013 Songwriters Hall of Fame.

They are joined by a who's who of the music world, including Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie,  Jeff Lynne (ELO), Steve Winwood, Bobby Womack and Foreigner's Lou Gramm and Mick Jones, who said in an interview that he's excited to be highlighted as a songwriter.

"It means a lot that those songs have been recognized, and maybe, hopefully a little part of history," Jones said of the band's hits, which include "I Want to Know What Love Is" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You."

Vince Gill and Rod Temperton, who wrote Michael Jackson's "Thriller," ''Rock With You" and "Off the Wall," are also nominated.

Non-performing songwriters up for nomination include "Chain of Fools" songwriter Don Covay, country music songwriter Bobby Braddock and Holly Knight, who co-wrote Pat Benatar's "Love Is a Battlefield" and Tina Turner's "Better Be Good to Me."

Linda Perry, the writer behind Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful," is nominated along with Bob McDill, Rick Nowels, Randy Goodrum, Tony Hatch and JD Souther. Writing duos Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter, and P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri are also nominated.

Voting ends December 17 and the gala takes place June 13 in New York City at the New York Marriott Marquis.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame, established in 1969, honors artists and writes whose work represents a wide spectrum of songs. In 2010, the Songwriters Hall of Fame moved into its first "physical" space within the Los Angeles Grammy Museum.

Ask Mr. Music by Jerry Osborne

FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 8, 2012

DEAR JERRY: While flipping through some old Los Angeles Free Press newspapers, I found one from 1969 with an interesting full-page ad announcing the new Beatles LP, “Abbey Lane.”

That's right, “Abbey Lane.” Not “Abbey Road.”

This publication, dated Friday, Sept. 26, also proclaims “Now Available at All American Record Stores” and “Shipment Expected Friday.”

Did they mean Friday the 26th, or Friday Oct. 3rd? One seems too early, the other too late.

My online searching indicates “Abbey Road” came out September 26th in the UK, then in the U.S. on Tuesday, Oct. 1st.

What's the story on this puzzling ad and “Abbey Lane”?
—Larry Brewer, Milwaukee

DEAR LARRY: To be clear, that American Record Stores ad is solely for five stores in California (Pasadena; Gardena; Goleta; Tarzana; Costa Mesa) named American Records, rather than record stores across America.

Before release of the Beatles' “Abbey Road” album, many outside the UK knew neither Abbey Road, the Westminster thoroughfare, nor EMI's Abbey Road Studios, where this and countless other famous recordings were made.

American Record Store's likely unfamiliarity with Abbey Road — including an LP not yet in hand — plus the potential for mixing up two words commonly used to identify streets, accounts for their use of “Abbey Lane” in their ad.

Probably unrelated but worthy of mention is that in Leicester, about 100 miles NW of Abbey Road, one of the main streets is Abbey Lane.

It may be an even greater stretch, but I can't categorically dismiss the possibility that the company's copywriter had “Penny Lane” running through his or her mind when preparing the advert.

Since American Records could not expect their “Abbey Road” inventory six days before the U.S. release (Oct. 1), “Shipment Expected Friday” leads me to believe they would have them Oct. 3, two days after the official on-sale date.

DEAR JERRY: Every year around this time, when ol' man winter comes calling, a '60s song about a young couple on a snowy day, either waking or sleigh riding, keeps running through my mind. One line haunting me is “get on your overcoat with the big fur collar.” I have one of those.

I thought it was by the Beach Boys, but it's definitely not on their Christmas album.

Having not heard it since back then, I had given up hope of enjoying it again. Then I discovered your wonderful service.

Solve this 50-year-old mystery and I will buy it and think of you when it's played.
—Lisa Dryden, Hartford, Conn.

DEAR LISA: By not taking advantage of this wonderful service 25 years ago, you have doubled the term of torment.

But, better late than never I guess.

Sounding very similar to a Beach Boys effort, this infectious tune is “Winter Weather,” by Ronny and the Daytonas (RCA Victor 47-9022). This 45 is often found on eBay for under $10.

If a CD is your preference, look for “Beachland” (Surf 0648K9), a 32-track disc with all of Ronny and the Daytonas' 1964-1967 recordings.

“Winter Weather” came out in Nov. 1966, right when “Good Vibrations” held the nation's No. 2 spot, on the way to No. 1.

This chilly weather selection starts with “put on your old coat with the big fur collar,” and ends with sleigh bells jingling, reminiscent of how “Donde Esta Santa Claus” (Augie Rios) fades out. These clues definitely helped close the deal.

Asking how “Winter Weather” missed being a hit is appropriate, but it was not helped by RCA's blunder of making the flip, “Young,” the “Plug Side.” As such, neither side succeeded at the time, though “Winter Weather” is now on many radio year-end playlists.

I know it's one I can't do without, regardless of the climate.

Listen to it HERE

IZ ZAT SO? Ronny and the Daytonas are best remembered for their car songs: such as “G.T.O.”; “Hot Rod City”; and “Bucket T,” but they also scored off the track with “California Bound,” “Sandy,” and “Diane, Diane.”

“Winter Weather,” like most of the group's music, was written by John “Bucky” Wilkin, and co-produced by Bucky and the late great Felton Jarvis.

Jarvis produced countless hit singles and albums, especially in the 1960s and '70s. A few of the names on his client list are: Elvis Presley (1966-'77); Willie Nelson; Fats Domino; Carl Perkins; Michael Nesmith; Charley Pride; John Hartford; Gladys Knight; and Skeeter Davis.

As a performer and writer, Bucky had it in his genes. His mother, country singer Marijohn Wilkin, also wrote or co-wrote many big hits for country as well as pop/rock stars. A few of those are: “One Day at a Time” (Marilyn Sellars and Christy Lane); “Cut Across Shorty” (Eddie Cochran and Rod Stewart); “Long Black Veil” (Lefty Frizzell); “I Just Don't Understand” (Ann-Margret and Beatles); “P.T. 109” (Jimmie Dean); “Waterloo” and “Mary Don't You Weep” (Stonewall Jackson); and “Weep No More My Baby” (Brenda Lee).

Bucky and Marijohn even teamed with Kris Kristofferson to write the poignant “Delta Day (No Time to Cry),” recorded by Merle Haggard, Iris DeMent, and others.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE TO RELEASE 20TH ANNIVERSARY BOX SET ON NOVEMBER 27

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE - XX 20th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE BOX SET CONTAINS NEVER BEFORE SEEN EARLY CONCERT FOOTAGE AND FULL 2010 FINSBURY PARK VICTORY CONCERT.

RATM MARKS THEIR 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH RELEASE OF REMASTERED DEBUT ALBUM, ORIGINAL DEMOS AND TREASURY TROVE OF VIDEOS AND MUSIC.

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release Rage Against the Machine - XX, commemorative 20th anniversary editions of the eponymous debut album by a great American rock band, on Tuesday, November 27, 2012.

Originally released in November 1992, Rage Against the Machine signaled the arrival of a revolutionary musical force, a band straddling the worlds of hip-hop and heavy metal with a scorching streetwise sound that rapped and rhymed hardcore across a musical backdrop as menacing and inspirational as graffiti. Rage Against the Machine entered the popular lexicon as more than just a revolutionary American rock band, the group's very name provided a rallying battle cry for the ongoing struggles for liberation--psychic and political--on planet earth.

Formed in 1991, Rage Against the Machine opened the gates of a new boundary-obliterating rock-rap musical alliance with the band's literate and politically-charged debut album. Driven by Tom Morello's unmistakeable guitar wallop and vocalist Zack de la Rocha's salient bulletins from the front, Rage Against the Machine became a critical and commercial success, selling millions of copies around the world while attaining legendary status among alt-rock fans. To this day the album, and the band, remain standard-bearers for uncompromising incendiary rock.

Newly remastered for this anniversary release, Rage Against the Machine - XX will be available as a CD in three configurations: 1) 20th Anniversary Edition Deluxe Box Set housing two CDs, two DVDs, one 12" 180gm vinyl LP, one 40 page booklet and two-sided poster; 2) 20th Anniversary Special Edition featuring two CDs and a bonus DVD featuring six tracks in an oversized softpack and 3) 20th Anniversary Edition single compact disc (with three bonus tracks). 12" 180gm vinyl editions--a picture disc and a facsimile reproduction--of the original LP, remastered (no bonus tracks) will also be available.

Compact Disc One of the newly remastered Rage Against the Machine - XX will include the original album, in its entirety, as well as three collectible b-sides from era.

Compact Disc Two presents the original Rage Against the Machine demo tape. Recorded in 1991 and sold for $5 at the merch table at early Rage shows, the tape achieved mythical word-of-mouth status amongst music fans while helping to seal the band's deal with Epic Records. The 20th anniversary releases of Rage Against the Machine - XX marks the first time the entire RATM demo tapes have seen a full official release.

DVD #1 included in the Deluxe Box Set features Rage Against the Machine's historic free concert in Finsbury Park on June 2010, performed as a thank-you to UK fans for making "Killing in the Name" the UK's Number One Single during Christmas week 2009. Also included is the band's groundbreaking music videos plus live concert performance clips.

DVD#2 takes you back to the release of Rage's debut album focusing on live performance from 1991-1994 which features the full set of RATM's first public performance as well as various live, rare clips.

Rage Against the Machine - XX will include new liner notes, penned especially for the band's 20th anniversary by longtime fan and hip-hop pioneer Chuck D.

T. Rex's 'The Slider' Anniversary Remaster

1972 was Marc Bolan's year ' and T.Rex 'The Slider,' the album that captures the 'First Man of Glam Rock' at his creative and commercial peak, has now been lovingly remastered for the first time by original producer Tony Visconti. This remastered version will be exclusively available in T.Rex ' The Slider 40th Anniversary Box Set scheduled for release by DMG's Edsel label on 26 November 2012.

Although Marc Bolan died in a tragic car accident in 1977, his influence is alive in the music of Suede, Oasis, Placebo and numerous left-field indie bands, in high profile commercials, and in cinema where his songs contributed enormously to the success of Billy Elliot. And as the first of the great ultra-glam pop icons, blending post-hippie exoticism with dashing Hollywood panache, Bolan's trailblazing and often outrageous style has left its mark on everyone from David Bowie to Lady Gaga.

Most extraordinary of all, as this new edition of The Slider so thrillingly reveals, Bolan's work sounds as vibrant now as it did when he was rewriting the pop rulebook during the early 1970s.

Now remastered for the first time by Tony Visconti, this classic album ' released in July 1972 on the back of three chart-topping T.Rex LPs ' provides a perfect snapshot of the era the press dubbed 'T. Rextasy' and is proof of Bolan's extraordinary and enduring appeal across the generations.

The Slider contained 2 UK Number 1 hit singles, Telegram Sam and Metal Guru - the latter famously regarded by Morrissey as 'pop perfection'. It was the first to bear the T. Rex Wax Co imprint, a seal of approval from EMI Records, who felt Bolan sufficiently important to warrant having his own record label. And it marked the climax of the most frenzied period of pop hysteria since Beatlemania a decade earlier, brilliantly captured in Born To Boogie, a documentary film based around T.Rex's groundbreaking concerts at the Empire Pool, Wembley in March 1972 and shot by Ringo Starr.

It was, screamed the headlines, 'The Day That Pop Came Back'. And The Slider, with its iconic cover photo of Marc Bolan in a Mad Hatter's hat, was confirmation of his extraordinary pop prowess.

T.Rex - The Slider captures Bolan at the peak of his writing ' from effortless 'Bolan Boogie' (Baby Strange, Baby Boomerang) to spellbinding melancholy (Ballrooms Of Mars, Mystic Lady), hard rocking 'Zep Rex' (Buick Mackane, Chariot Choogle) to pop poetry at its finest (Spaceball Ricochet, Rabbit Fighter).

Marc Bolan was a unique and extraordinary pop artist. The Slider, both intensely personal and hugely accessible, was and remains a unique and extraordinary album. This expansive, lovingly produced T.Rex ' The Slider 40th Anniversary Box Set, now tells the full story for the first time. As well as producer Visconti's remaster of the original 13-track album, there are B-sides and numerous outtakes, including a previously unreleased demo of the title track from Visconti's private collection.
