Picture Discs

I love to explore the Internet and find fascinating and informative websites to share. I want to share a site that I hope you will find interesting, about picture discs called www.angelfire.com/rock/picturediscs/index.html

Not only does it show fantastic images of specific picture discs by famous rock and roll bands, but also has some history and a discography as well. Stop by soon, you will love what you see!

I'm always worried about the reaction I'll get from vinyl collectors to my art, but a post on picture discs might provide a context in which to share what I do. Using worn, largely unplayable LPs, I paint portraits of the recording musician using white acrylic by hand on the record.

*pause for gasp*

I have an internal struggle about it too, but, would you rather have a used record store employee simply chuck them or have someone lovingly honor the musicians in a way to celebrate their creation of music? As with picture discs, which don't have the best sound quality, my art is meant to showcase the music you love, whatever that is.

I hope maybe you'll give my work a look-see and let me know what you think. I don't mind scathing negativity either!

Peace

Daniel,

Your art is an inspriration and, personally, I get chills watching your YouTube videos. To see the musician come to 'life' before my eyes is chilling and certainly not a waste of a record. If it is unplayable, and instead of throwing it away, what you do is just marvelous, and I can't get enough....talk soon
