New Jimi Hendrix Album To Mark 40th Death Anniversary

The U.K.'s The Sun is reporting that remastered versions of Jimi Hendrix's albums will soon be available. It is also rumored that a new album is being assembled from some of the guitar legend's previously unreleased studio material.

According to the publication, record bosses have decided to polish Hendrix's albums and re-release them in September to commemorate the 40th anniversary of his death.

As previously reported, recordings of a few Hendrix gigs from 1967 and 1968 will also be released as part of a limited edition CD and vinyl package on January 25. The CD will contain audio recordings of Hendrix's show from January 29, 1968, at Paris' L'Olympia Theatre, and his gig on March 19 of the same year at the Ottawa Capitol Theatre.

A recording of his show at L'Olympia on October 9, 1967, which was originally broadcast on French radio but never officially released, will also be included.

In other news......an unearthed song called “Valleys of Neptune” will be featured on a compilation of the same name on March 9th. Valleys of Neptune will include 12 tracks recorded at various studios during Jimi’s final recording sessions while working on his posthumously completed First Rays of the Rising Sun. “Valleys of Neptune,” which was never released commercially but did appear on 1990’s Lifelines: The Jimi Hendrix Story four-disc set, will also be released as a single on February 2nd.

Avril Lavigne, Pete Wentz, Blink-182's Mark Hoppus For Alice In Wonderland Soundtrack

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz and Blink-182's Mark Hoppus have joined forces to write a song for the Alice In Wonderland soundtrack.

The duo's track for much anticipated Tim Burton remake, starring Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter, is described by Wentz as being different to either of their bands' output.

He told MTV.com: “We did a song for 'Alice in Wonderland,' and we might do a few more, depending on when Mark goes in with Blink. It sounds nothing like Blink or Fall Out Boy,"

"Mark understands songwriting on a completely different level. It's awesome to have a chance to sit in a room with him and watch him work out a melody.”

According to Variety Magazine, Avril Lavigne has also recorded a track called 'Alice Underground' for the soundtrack.
