Rare White Stripes Vinyl sells for $18,000

Amazing and true, whose says records have to be old to be worth something?

"The first copy to sell went for $800 back in 2003 and it’s been sky-rocketing ever since. Just recently I’ve had the pleasure of coordinating the sale of one of these singles for the stately sum of $18,000. Yes, you read that correctly…eighteen thousand United States dollars. This copy was painted by Mr. Buick and is pressed on especially swirly red/white vinyl."

Cage The Elephant Plot Release Of Sophomore Album

Cage the Elephant have recently announced that their sophomore album, 'Thank You, Happy Birthday,' is scheduled for release on January 11, 2011.

This 13-song follow-up to their self-titled 2009 debut will be released by Jive Records and features production from Tragedy/Tragedy Studios in Nashville by Jay Joyce. A seven inch vinyl single of the tracks "Shake Me Down" and "Aberdeen" will be released exclusively through Record Store Day's 'Black Friday' event on November 26.

In a press release issued by the band, they noted that they wrote approximately "80 songs' worth of ideas" after they "locked themselves away in a remote Kentucky cabin, listened to and discovered old albums from The Pixies, Mudhoney and Butthole Surfers, and studied interviews with songwriting greats like Bob Dylan and John Lennon."

VIRGIN STEELE:  'The Black Light Bacchanalia' Limited-Edition LP Box Set Available

US metal band VIRGIN STEELE will release their new album, 'The Black Light Bacchanalia,' on November 9 via SPV/Steamhammer. The effort will be made available as limited-edition digipak, standard CD, limited-edition LP box set and as a digital download. The limited-edition LP box set (limited to 3,000 copies worldwide) will be released on November 23 in North America. Each version will have its own unique artwork.

Rival Schools Album Release Date Announced, Cover Art Revealed

Rival Schools have recently announced that their sophomore album, 'Pedals,' will be released on March 8, 2011. The band features Walter Schreifels (Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits), Ian Love (Burn), Cache Tolman (Institute), and Sammy Siegler (Glassjaw, Civ), and this will be their first release through a new deal with Photo Finish Records.

Black Keys Releasing Box Set On Record Store Day
November 26, ('Black Friday'), is shaping up to be another successful Record Store Day event, as a couple bands have announced exclusive releases for the event. The biggest band thus far is the Black Keys, who have announced a box set of their recent Brothers. The Brothers set will include the album on CD and double 45-RPM vinyl, a 10-inch album featuring six live cuts from the album, and a limited-edition poster.

Wolfchant Reveals "Call Of The Black Winds" Album Artwork

Rockers Wolfchant has issued the following update about recruiting a new vocalist and revealing the artwork for the "Call of the Black Winds" album:
