New vinyl record releases are plentiful this week with high marks going to a Black Sabbath reissue of 'Live Evil,' Captain Beefheart's reissue of 'Doc at the Radar Station' and Mastodon's 'The Hunter' available on vinyl for the first time. Other vinyl record releases come from Dream Academy with 'Remembrance Days,' White Denim's 'Takes Place in Your Work Space,' Cowboy Junkies with 'Sing in My Meadow,' Nothing People's 'Smells Like Metal,' Richmond Fontaine with 'High Country, Peter Gabriel's 'New Blood' and the Scorpions' two LP set 'Comeblack.' After lots of hype, R.E.M.'s 40-song career retrospective 'Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982 - 2011' hits the stores this today.
Other highlights this week include the Who's 'Quadrophenia - The Director's Cut (Super Deluxe Edition)' which is remastered and contains four CDs, a DVD, and a 7" vinyl single (and is also available in a 2-CD version), an EP from Coliseum called 'Parasites,' Miles Davis 'Unissued 1952 -1959 Birdland Broadcasts,' Elvis Costello's 'Return of the Spectacular Spinning Songboox,' Thin Lizzy's 'Live at the BBC Box Set' (7-CD & 1-DVD box set), everything you ever wanted from Whitesnake with 'Box O Snakes: Sunburst Years 1978 - 1982' (9 CDs) (DVD) (7" White Vinyl EP) and a remastered set from Grand Funk Railroad 'Mark, Don & Mel 1969-71.'
