They Are Missed:
In 1967, British music entrepreneur and the manager of The Beatles Brian Epstein was found dead, locked in a bedroom at his London home. A coroner's inquest concluded that Epstein died from an overdose of the sleeping pill Carbitrol. He also managed several other artists including Gerry & The Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, Cilla Black and The Remo Four. The first contract between The Beatles and Epstein was auctioned in London in 2008, and was sold for $370,000.
In 1990, Stevie Ray Vaughan was killed when the helicopter he was flying in, hit a man-made ski slope while trying to navigate through dense fog. Vaughn had played a show at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, East Troy, Wisconsin with Robert Cray & His Memphis Horns, and Eric Clapton. Vaughan was informed by a member of Clapton's crew that three seats were open on a helicopter returning to Chicago with Clapton's crew, it turned out there was only one seat left; Vaughan requested it from his brother, who obliged. Three members of Eric Clapton's entourage were also killed. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Stevie Ray Vaughan #7 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarist's of all time. No One, I Mean No One, played the guitar like SRV!
R.I.P Mr. Vaughan. We're not worthy!
Percussionist Richard Jaeger died in 2000. Worked with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Pointer Sisters.

History:
Charles G. Conn received a patent for the metal clarinet in 1889.
Connie Francis was the mystery guest on CBS-Tv's 'What's My Line' in 1961.
On the last day of a five-day break from their North American tour in 1965, The Beatles, attended a recording session for The Byrds. Later that afternoon, The Beatles met Elvis Presley at his mansion in Beverly Hills. It was an awkward meeting, leaving The Beatles with the impression that Presley's personality was decidedly "unmagnetic." John Lennon remarked soon after, “Where’s Elvis? It was like meeting Engelbert Humperdinck.”
Bob Dylan's second electric album, "Highway 61 Revisited," was released in 1965.
The Association's "Cherish" was released in 1966.
Jackson Browne recorded "Stay" and "Running on Empty" at a concert in Columbia, Maryland in 1977.
In 1988, "Monkey" gave George Michael his eighth US #1 single of the 1980s, a record only beaten by Michael Jackson.
Tracy Chapman went to #1 on the US album chart in 1988 with her self-titled album.
Pearl Jam released 'Ten' in 1991.
John Lennon's handwritten lyrics to The Beatles song "A Day In The Life" sold at an auction for $87,000 in 1992.
Boyz II Men started a 14 week run at #1 on the US singles chart in 1994 with "I'll Make Love To You." The record- breaking 14 week stay came to an end when they knocked themselves from the top with "On Bended Knee."
Neil Young headlined the Redding Festival with Pearl Jam as his backing band in 1995.
In 2003, P Diddy was being sued for $5m by a woman who claimed she was assaulted by a bouncer outside his New York restaurant. Stephanie Grieso, said she was arguing outside Justin's in August 2002 when a bouncer grabbed her by the neck and pushed her down on the pavement, causing leg injuries.
In 2004, Green Day, The Darkness, The White Stripes, Morrissey, The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, The Hives, 50 Cent, (50 Cent was booed off stage after being greeted by a rain of bottles thrown at him and his G-Unit crew as they came onstage). The Streets, The Vines, Soulwax, Dogs Die In Hot Cars, The Offspring, Ash, Placebo and Lostprophets all appeared at this years UK Carling Weekend in Reading and Leeds, England.
In 2007, Kevin Federline's lawyers asked Britney Spears to pay some of her former husband's legal expenses in their divorce case. His legal team said Federline had "no net income" after various expenses, and that Ms Spears was "clearly the monied party" in the dispute. According to legal documents filed in Los Angeles, the pop star's average monthly income was $737,868. The couple had married in October 2004 and filed for divorce in November 2006.
In 2008, Kevin Cogill, a 27-year-old blogger, is arrested by the FBI for leaking tracks from Guns N' Roses' long-overdue "Chinese Democracy" album online. Cogill was taken into custody at his home in Culver City, CA, on "suspicion of violating federal copyright laws."

“Working their way up to art rock legacy” – Rolling Stone
“Bands that do what they want to do because they believe in it – and trust the intelligence of their listeners – are the future. That is the brave new world of Liars” – Los Angeles Times
“Like a Mayan maze of sonic and lyrical ambiguity that pummels and cajoles... while darting jittery glances down dank alleys.” – HighTimes
Liars will release a new single, Proud Evolution, as a six track EP on October 19th, 2010. The new EP features a remix from Thom Yorke, a live version recorded at Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, plus three exclusive new b-sides “Come Now”, “Total Frown”, and “Strangers”.
Liars on “Proud Evolution”: “A triumphant processional piano part is hijacked by something more lurid and tempting. The clicking and gurgling of what’s kicking. Soon a large rolling mass of bass displaces the equilibrium and redirects it into a groove. The tempting wave reminds you that misplaced confidence can be frightening.”
Liars make a long awaited return to Canada, playing Toronto and Montreal for the first time since 2006, and playing Ottawa and Hamilton for the first time ever! Having taken their critically acclaimed fifth album Sisterworld across the US, Liars head north to devastate Canada including a headline appearance at the Pop Montreal International Music Festival on September 30th.
At this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival, Chicago Sun-Times observed “A series of owl cries and electronically distorted yowls rose and fell over guitar lines played carefully just a half xtone off where they should be, and the bass lurked and dodged in the lengthening shadows.”
Time Out Chicago raved, “Art-rockers Liars took a cue from the blistering sun, delivering a set that was equally as intense as the sweltering heat beaming down from above.”
Sisterworld is out now on CD, double vinyl and 2CD version. The second disc of the 2CD release sees each track on Sisterworld remixed and reinterpreted by a host of artists including Thom Yorke, Devendra Banhart, Atlas Sound, Blonde Redhead, Fol Chen and Alan Vega while the unique packaging for the 2CD and deluxe vinyl editions, designed by Brian Roettinger / Hand Held Heart (Grammy nominated and Rolling Stone award winning for his work with No Age) allows a surreal glimpse into Sisterworld.

New Andy Bell Music
NEW SINGLE “NON-STOP”
OUT OCTOBER 12th 2010
FROM THE SOLO ALBUM, NON-STOP, OUT NOW
“For anyone looking for this summer’s new club anthem, Non-Stop delivers the goods” – Venus Zine
“Bell delivers 10 songs packed with relentless beats and dizzying electronic accompaniment.” – M Magazine
“This is pop, house, electro and disco-glam all combined in to one campy cup of perfection.” – Theme Magazine
Andy Bell releases a new single and title track from his latest album, “Non-Stop”, out digitally on October 12th, 2010. The single features remixes from London based remix team Digital Dog (Tinchy Stryder, Britney Spears, Rihanna), plus exclusive tracks “Flying Colours” and the “Non-Stop” instrumental version. In addition, “Say What You Want” (Joy Joy Mix) by Ste Ashworth is included, which is the winning remix from a recent competition on andybell.com.
Non-Stop, co-produced and co-written by Andy Bell and Pascal Gabriel (S’Express, Debbie Harry, Kylie) is a lavish 10 track collection of exquisite dancefloor confessionals from one of the most acclaimed and beloved singers in British pop. The album features a duet with Perry Farrell (of Jane’s Addiction fame), Honey If You Love Him. Farrell, a huge fan of Andy’s voice, suggested the alliance.
Although Andy’s long-running partnership with Vince Clarke in Erasure (recipients of Best British Group at The Brit Awards) remains very much a going concern - since the release of 1986’s debut, Wonderland the duo have gone on to sell over 20 million albums, 5 of them hitting #1 and had 17 Top 10 UK singles - the singer’s second solo album provides a liberating platform for his more clubby, nocturnal, disco-glam side. He has even purposely changed his vocal register and style for much of Non-Stop, putting clear blue water between his soulfully electronic solo voice and his gleaming, poppy Erasure work.
NON-STOP TRACKLISTING
1. Non-Stop – original version
2. Non-Stop - Digital Dog Radio Edit
3. Non-Stop Digital Dog Club Edit
4. Non-Stop – instrumental Version

Furnace MFG - In The News
This interesting video courtesy of my vinyl friend Manish Naik:
Get to know Furnace MFG with descriptions of the products and services we offer and a tour of the facilities. Furnace MFG is known for pressing the finest quality and best sounding vinyl records in the world. In this video we show you our state of the art pressing and assembly facilities and explain why people are saying Furnace MFG is vinyl pressing, perfected.
Ever wonder how vinyl records are pressed? In this video you will see the extruder make a puck of vinyl, sandwich it between two labels, and then press the vinyl puck between two plates that contain the grooves that make a vinyl record. Once the press cycle is finished you will see a knife cut off the excess vinyl. The record is then picked and placed into a sleeve where a heavy, metal plate is put on top to ensure the records remain flat while it cools. Records pressed at Furnace MFG / Pallas in Germany are among the finest in the world. This is a process that has been refined and perfected since the plant opened for business in 1947. Hear the difference today: www.furnacemfg.com/vinyl
Furnace is also one of the largest vinyl manufacturing companies in the country. With over 25 years of vinyl experience, Furnace MFG is THE pressing plant for high-quality vinyl as well as vinyl mastering; lacquer; and DMM cutting, galvanics and plating. Though we are well-known for our boutique, audiophile-grade vinyl manufacturing, we also have the most capacity in the world with over 45 active vinyl presses. As the vinyl format thrives, Furnace MFG will lead the charge to keep the physical music format alive and kicking well into the 21st century.

As the title suggest, all the lyrics will be based on the original Polish legends from the middle-ages.

HOLY GRAIL: Debut Album Artwork Unveiled
"Crisis In Utopia", the debut album from the Los Angeles metal quintet HOLY GRAIL, will be released on October 26 via Prosthetic Records. The CD was produced by Danny Lohner (NINE INCH NAILS, A PERFECT CIRCLE) and features cover artwork by Andrei Bouzikov (SKELETONWITCH, MUNICIPAL WASTE).
Assembled a year ago, HOLY GRAIL is already at the forefront of the new wave of metal that pays homage to such legends as IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and DIO. The band's debut EP, "Improper Burial" (released in late 2009), featuring just two original tracks and two covers, earned HOLY GRAIL significant press accolades including a two-page feature in hometown paper LA Weekly, a spot on Decibel's "25 Most Anticipated Releases Of 2010" list and inclusion on Metal Hammer's "Guide To The Best In The Upcoming New Wave Of Trad Metal."
HOLY GRAIL is currently on the road in North America as the support act for EXODUS.

Rolling Stone Publishing Special Issue With Top 100 Beatles Songs
Rolling Stone Magazine is happy to be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of the Beatles final album, 'Let It Be,' with a special issue highlighting the groups one hundred best songs. Along with the list, there are additional articles with John Lennon and Paul McCartney talking about their favorite tracks, the group's best cover songs and the tracks with George Harrison's best guitar work. I'd be interested in their solo work as well, each member had several hits and it is hard to imagine that some of these aren't included.
Here is Rolling Stone's top ten:
1. A Day in the Life
2. I Want to Hold Your Hand
3. Strawberry Fields Forever
4. Yesterday
5 .In My Life
6 .Something
7. Hey Jude

Ask Mr. Music by Jerry Osborne
FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 23, 2010
DEAR JERRY: To this day, when pop music documentaries recap the 1940s, '50s and '60s, they invariably devote a segment to the payola scandals. Alan Freed is often the payola poster boy, though Dick Clark and other big names are sometimes mentioned.
Regardless of those under discussion, it always is about dee jays being paid to play records on the air. Stan Freberg even spoofed the practice in his 1960 hit, “The Old Payola Roll Blues.”
But wasn't there a slight variation of payola, where, instead of money, dee jays got the artists to give personal performances for little or no pay?
—Genevieve Espinosa, Beaumont, Texas
DEAR GENEVIEVE: This certainly is an overlooked slice of Rock and Roll history, one even I had forgotten about.
However, during the course of an interview I once published, Bobby Vinton shared his opinions and reflections on these forms of payola:
“It was just a way of life at the time. In fact, life itself is a form of payola — you do something for me and I'll do something for you. That's certainly how the politicians and lobbyists work.
“Basically, there's no harm to it but the record industry had to take the brunt of the criticism. Still, no one ever forced anyone to buy a record they didn't want to own.
“I used to come to a city to do a record hop, put on by a local dee jay. The disc jockey would ask me to sing at the record hop in exchange for him playing my current record, especially in the week leading up to the hop.
“The dee jay was there to make money, from the kids (his listeners) who bought tickets to attend, which they did because I was there live performing my record, which was being played on the dee jay's radio show.
“I was happy; the record company was happy; the dee jay was happy; and the kids were happy. Everybody wins. What's wrong with that?
“It was better in those days, when all of this was out in the open.”
Good ol' quid pro quo: something for something.
DEAR JERRY: Just read your column about Chubby Checker having so many different hits with “Twist” titles. He definitely made a career out of hit songs based on teen dances.
Besides “The Twist,” I recall the pony, the fly, and the limbo, but I'm pretty sure he didn't stop there. Can you name them all?
—Zoni Hamilton, York, Pa.
DEAR ZONI: Of course, and it may surprise you to know Chubby (who never was) has danced his way right into the 21st century, as you shall see from this chronological dance-a-thon:
“The Twist” (1960 & '61); “The Hucklebuck” (1960); “Pony Time” (1960); “(Dance the) Mess Around” (1961); “Let's Twist Again” (1961); “The Fly” (1961); “Twistin' U.S.A.” (1961); “Teach Me to Twist” (1962) (with Bobby Rydell); “Slow Twistin' (1962) (with Dee Dee Sharp); “La Paloma Twist” (1962); “Limbo Rock” (1962); “Popeye the Hitchhiker” (1962); “Let's Limbo Some More” (1963); “Birdland” (1963); “Twist It Up” (1963); “She Wants T' Swim” (1964); “Let's Do the Freddie” (1965); “Hey You! Little Boo-ga-loo” (1966); “The Twist (Yo, Twist!)” (1988) (with Fat Boys); “Doin' the Zombie” (2008); and “The Texas Twist”(2009) (with Texas Radio).
If we were compiling a concept album of Chubby's dance songs (umm, not a bad idea), to these 21 we would add two “bonus tracks,” both about dancing in general: “Dancin' Party” (1962) and “At the Discotheque” (1965).
All of these are single releases. Checker's albums include numerous other dance tunes.
Remarkably, over half of his 38 chart hits have a dance theme and title.
IZ ZAT SO? Though Chubby Checker is the best known artist with the same hit twice — “The Twist” in 1960 and '61 — with the exact same recording, he was not the first.
Two years before “The Twist,” Johnny Tillotson hit the charts in 1958 with “Dreamy Eyes,” then scored again in 1961 with the exact same recording. This tune is not the same song popularized by the Four Preps, Youngsters, Viceroys, and others.
Fortuitously for Chubby, his career skyrocketed on the wings of a cover version. His “The Twist” charted just two weeks after Hank Ballard's original recording, and it soon became THE version.
Things didn't work out too badly for Ballard, though. Since he wrote “The Twist” he collected kagillions in royalties.

Toby Keith Releases Cover Art For ‘Bullets In The Gun’23
Toby Keith’s fifteenth full-length studio album called 'Bullets In The Gun' will also be available as a Deluxe Edition upon its October 5 release, even adding four live tracks to the standard album.
Recorded during his “Incognito Bandito” show at The Fillmore in Manhattan, the four songs feature Keith on lead vocals backed by an A-list band of session players assembled exclusively for the rare club performance. Johnny Paycheck’s “11 Months And 29 Days,” Waylon Jennings’ “I’ve Been A Long Time Leaving (But I’ll Be A Long Time Gone),” Roger Miller’s “Chug-A-Lug” and Gordon Lightfoot’s “Sundown” are the additions.
Those recordings bring the Deluxe Edition’s track list to 14. Keith produced the album, joined by Mills Logan and Kenny Greenberg for the live session. He also wrote or co-wrote all 10 new songs, six with Bobby Pinson, one with Scotty Emerick and Dean Dillon and the title track with Rivers Rutherford. Toby also wrote two songs by himself, including the lead single “Trailerhood,” which is shooting quickly to the top of the charts.
Track Listing:
1. Bullets In The Gun

Bob Dylan's The Witmark Demos Set for October 19 Release Along With First Re-Release of the Original Mono Recordings
Forty-Seven Original Demos Recorded For Dylan's Early Music Publishers Highlight First New Volume In Famed Bootleg Series Since 2008
Artist's First Eight Groundbreaking Albums Available In Limited Edition Box Set of Newly Mastered Mono Versions
Available For First Time On Compact Disc and 180-Gram Vinyl
NEW YORK, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia Records will release Bob Dylan's The Bootleg Series Volume 9 – The Witmark Demos on Tuesday, October 19th, in conjunction with Columbia/Legacy's release of the artist's first eight long-playing albums in a box set titled Bob Dylan – The Original Mono Recordings. Both sets have been long sought-after by collectors and fans worldwide, with The Witmark Demos seeing their first commercial release nearly five decades after they were first recorded, and The Original Mono Recordings returning to the marketplace for the first time ever on Compact Disc, as well as on fully analogue 180-gram vinyl. Both The Bootleg Series Volume 9 - The Witmark Demos and Bob Dylan - The Original Mono Recordings are available for pre-order now at SonyMusicDigital.com/bobdylan and Amazon.com.
The Witmark Demos features 47 Bob Dylan songs recorded by the artist – accompanied only by his acoustic guitar, harmonica and occasionally piano – for his first music publisher, Leeds Music, in January 1962, and for his second publisher, M. Witmark & Sons, between 1962 and 1964. Listening to these recordings, one can trace Dylan's dramatic growth as a songwriter from early traditionally-styled songs like "Man On The Street" and "Ramblin' Gamblin' Willie" through the social commentary of "Blowin' In The Wind, "The Times They Are A Changin'" and "Masters Of War", and the groundbreaking lyrical genius of "Mr. Tambourine Man." All of these songs, and all the others on The Witmark Demos, were written – and their subsequent demos recorded – before Bob Dylan turned 24 years old.
Among the many gems found on The Witmark Demos are 15 Bob Dylan songs that were recorded by the artist only for these sessions, and which have never been officially released to the public until now. These include the plaintive "Ballad For A Friend," the civil rights era-inspired "Long Ago, Far Away" and "The Death Of Emmett Till," and the poignant "Guess I'm Doing Fine."
While many of these early songs on The Witmark Demos found their way onto Bob Dylan's own albums, much of the world's first exposure to them was through their recordings by others, including Peter, Paul and Mary and Stevie Wonder ("Blowin' In The Wind"), Judy Collins ("Tomorrow Is A Long Time") and The Byrds ("Mr Tambourine Man"). It's a testament to the lasting cultural impact of these songs that they have been covered by more than a thousand artists in the nearly fifty years since these demos were created.
The Witmark Demos also features a deluxe booklet featuring in-depth liner notes by noted music historian Colin Escott, as well as rare photographs of Bob Dylan captured during the same period as these early recordings.
The Original Mono Recordings is comprised of Bob Dylan's first eight long-playing albums, painstakingly reproduced from their first generation monaural mixes as the artist intended them to be heard: One channel of powerful sound, both direct and immediate. While stereo recordings had been available as early as the mid-1950s, mono was still the predominant – and often preferred – mode of recording and mixing by the top artists of the 1960s. As a result, artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan devoted their attention to the mono mixes, leaving the stereo mixing process to studio engineers.
The Original Mono Recordings are accompanied by a deluxe booklet, featuring vintage photographs of Bob Dylan and an expansive essay from renowned author and critic – and longtime Dylan aficionado – Greil Marcus. Each disc in the set comes in its own individual jacket which faithfully replicates the original album artwork, complete with labels and stickers that were found on the original 1960s releases.
These eight albums – spanning the artist's self-titled debut in March 1962, through John Wesley Harding released on December 27, 1967 – are universally regarded as some of the most important works in the history of recorded music. Together with The Witmark Demos, they provide the public with a wide-ranging view of Bob Dylan's work during the 1960s, and chronicle his amazing evolution from fledgling songwriter to one of the world's most inventive and singular recording artists.
The complete track listing of The Bootleg Series Volume 9 – The Witmark Demos is as follows:

Dead Confederate - Sugar (Vinyl) Buy Dead Confederate Here
Winter storms are punishingly cold and uncomfortable, but are an important source of water for spring growth. Likewise for Dead Confederate, the series of New Jersey blizzards that besieged the recording of sophomore album Sugar (a reference to the record snowfall) also heralded growth from the darker, somber realm of their critically acclaimed Wrecking Ball. With an evolving approach and focused, streamlined sound, and a guest appearance from Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis, Sugar explores new styles beyond the aching, bleak psychadelia of the debut.

Limes - Rhinestone River (Vinyl) Buy The Limes Here
VINYL FORMAT. Memphis is home to several of rock's most endearingly off-kilter rock storytellers, from Jim Dickinson to Jeffrey Evans to Ross Johnson. To that list, one can now add Shawn Cripps, leader of The Limes. On the band's debut full-length, Rhinestone River, Cripps retains the musical talents of Harlan T. Bobo, who previously helped on The Limes' "Rock 'n' Roll Heart" single. Bobo's hypnotic keyboards perfectly complement Cripps's gritty guitar work and vocals, particularly on "Sounds Like a Shimmy." Rhinestone River also features contributions by Memphis scene stalwarts Ross Johnson, Paul Buchignani (Afghan Whigs, Bobo's backing band), Alicja Trout (Lost Sounds, River City Tanlines) and Bruce Saltmarsh ('68 Comeback, Porch Ghouls). The title track, with its wobbly gait and lyrics like "Sitting on this barstool, sweating the rhinestone river," can induce secondhand drunkenness in anyone within earshot. "Rhinestone River" is the closest an American band has gotten to the pickled poetry of the Country Teasers. The momentum and melody of "Bottom of the Hole" unfurl like the narrative thrust of a bourbon-soaked anecdote at two in the morning. The album's crown jewel is the closing track, "Last Year." Cater-cornered rock guitars and Cripps's talkin' vocal style build up to a woozy climax that culminates in a feral "woo-hoo." Like the other great songs on Rhinestone River, it threatens to fall apart several times but Cripps, with a little help from his friends and his engaging personality, holds it all together.

Mirah - Gone Are All the Days (Vinyl) Buy Mirah Here
VINYL FORMAT. When it first appeared on (a)spera in 2009, the first solo album from Mirah since 2004, "Gone Are All the Days" was a song of sorrow with a little swing and a bit of hope. Live performances of the track took the swing and added a disco beat; an energetic pulse that alleviates sadness with glittery energy and an empowered delivery. When unwrapped, this 12" single comes in four parts: a studio recording ("Disco Beat") including a newly constructed musical arrangement featuring a punchy bassline, a sly guitar, bongos, viola and a re-recorded vocal performance by Mirah; an isolated instrumental track; an additional dance remix by Christopher Doulgeris of Hooliganship; and an a capella vocal track. These "Days" are brighter, and the future is happening already. Be a part of it.

Ra Ra Riot - The Orchard (Vinyl) Buy Ra Ra Riot Here
VINYL FORMAT. Ra Ra Riot's debut full-length, The Rhumb Line, was released in the summer of 2008, and it brought with it some beautiful and sparkly ruminations on the fragile things in life (namely life, death and love) and much critical praise. The band retreated to a country property in upstate New York to write and record, and now announce The Orchard. Anticipation is feverish for new music, and the new album is an incredibly self-assured step for the band, delivering both hook-laden pop jams like first single "Boy" and the new-but-familiar-to-live-audiences 'Too Dramatic," and ruminative slow-burns like the Anton Chekov/Kate Bush-inspired "The Orchard" and album-closer "Keep It Quiet."

GIBSON To Reproduce Classic RANDY RHOADS Les Paul Guitar
The 1974 Les Paul Custom guitar that Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads played on the classic albums "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman" has been one of the most requested reissues ever, according to Gibson.com. The Gibson Custom Shop has announced the release of this legendary axe. In collaboration with the Rhoads family, the Jackson Custom Shop built 60 exact replicas of the first Randy Rhoads Jackson guitar, often referred to as the Concorde. More information will be made available soon.
According to TheMusicZoo.com, Randy's tribute model is a direct replica of his original 1980 Jackson asymmetrical V-shaped guitar that he personally designed. He intended to call this body style the Concorde and it is widely regarded as the "first pointy guitar." The original guitar had been kept at the Rhoads family music school since his death, and they say it had not been out of the case in over 20 years.
In 1982, Rhoads, the then-lead guitarist for OZZY OSBOURNE, and two others were killed at Flying Baron Estates, just outside Leesburg, Florida, when their small plane struck Osbourne's tour bus, then crashed into a mansion.

International Superstar Annie Lennox Signs With Universal Music Group (UMG) for Worldwide Recording Agreement
Initial Release 'A Christmas Cornucopia' In-Stores on November 22, 2010
LOS ANGELES, Aug 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Internationally renowned recording artist, songwriter and musician Annie Lennox has signed with Universal Music Group (UMG), the world's leading music company, for a long-term worldwide recording agreement.
As one of the world's most successful and critically-acclaimed British female artists in pop music history, Ms. Lennox will release her brand new album, "A Christmas Cornucopia," on November 22nd through Island Records UK and Decca Records in the US and the rest of the world.
The album features Ms. Lennox's unique and personal interpretations of some of her favorite Christmas carols as well as a completely new, and wonderful, original composition entitled, "Universal Child."
"I'm absolutely delighted to be working with Island Records on my upcoming recording," stated Ms. Lennox. "This album is something I've wanted to do for many years. It's a true labour of love, and I feel very fortunate to be in partnership with such a cutting edge team, especially when I'm at a stage in my creativity when I want to diversify, and pursue my passion in my own individual way. I've never been part of a 'mold,' and Island are really supportive and appreciative of where I'm coming from. I want to make timeless music that people will love in many years to come...and I'd like to think that 'A Christmas Cornucopia' is going to be of those recordings."
"There are precious few artists who redefine the boundaries of popular music like Annie," said Lucian Grainge, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Universal Music Group. "And we are delighted to be part of the next exciting chapter in her already storied career."
"Annie Lennox is one of world's greatest singers," commented Ms. Lennox's manager Simon Fuller. "She has sold tens of millions of albums, celebrated countless hit singles and won every major award and honour there is to receive. However there is one thing she has always wanted to do and now it's about to happen. Annie has always wanted to record an album of Christmas songs and to see this finally come to fruition is very special. Annie and I are thrilled to now be working with Island Records and all my friends at Universal around the world. We are looking forward very much to a long, happy and successful partnership for many years to come."
"The album Annie has recorded is timeless and inspiring, a very special showcase for her extraordinary voice," added Universal Music UK chairman David Joseph. "This record is just the start of what feels like a natural, and very exciting, new partnership between Annie and Island Records."
Throughout her remarkable career, Annie Lennox has been celebrated as an innovator, and a symbol of enduring excellence. Both as a member of the groundbreaking Eurythmics and as a solo artist without peer, Annie has amassed sales of more than 80 million albums worldwide and claimed 34 hit singles, four Grammy Awards, 11 Brit Awards, five Ivor Novellos, an Academy Award and two Golden Globes.
